At Surrey, we do everything we can to make you feel safe, settled and happy during your time at university. Our campus will be your second home and you’ll quickly become part of our close-knit campus community. Our staff always put our students first. No matter what you need, there’s someone at Surrey who can help. We have a dedicated student advice and support hub at the MySurrey Hive, friendly International Student Support teams, a multi-faith chaplaincy and students on placement have access to support and mentoring from their academic staff.

From September 2020, we’ll be providing all of our undergraduates and postgraduate taught students with free digital copies of their essential textbooks. This is part of our commitment to making the university more accessible, enabling you to learn in a more digital environment.

Life at university is more than just lectures and coursework, we make sure that your university experience is as varied and fulfilling as possible, providing you with endless opportunities to make the most out of your time with us.

If you’re interested in sport or want to keep active during your time at university, Surrey Sports Park is home to a wide range of first-class facilities, including an eight-lane Olympic sized swimming pool, 120 station gym and 10m high climbing walls. If you just want to have fun and meet new people our Students’ Union also has a wide range of exciting clubs and societies and organises unforgettable events and volunteering opportunities to ensure you have the best possible university experience.

Just 34 minutes away from London by train, students can enjoy the beautiful, friendly campus and area of Surrey. Guildford is a bustling and welcoming town and is surrounded by scenic countryside.

Campus Features

Our main campus is located on Stag Hill, close to the town centre of Guildford and next to Guildford Cathedral. It’s a lovely, leafy campus full of space to relax, as well as most of our student facilities, including the Library and Learning Centre, the MySurrey Hive, the Students’ Union, plus shops, bars, and cafes.We have a second campus, at Manor Park, a short distance away, which is home to the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, Surrey Sports Park, and lots more accommodations.

The two are well-connected by walking, bike, or bus.

There are over 6,000 study bedrooms on campus, at least half of which have an en-suite shower and toilet plus unlimited, free broadband. There are choices to suit all budgets and requirements and you’re guaranteed university accommodation in your first year as long as your application arrives on time. All student residences are self-catered with shared kitchen facilities and are monitored by security 24/7.

Off-campus, there is a variety of housing in the Guildford area let privately or through the University of Surrey's own Property Management Scheme.

    Admissions

    While many PWPs are psychology graduates this is not a necessity. Applications are welcomed from people with experience working in mental health or similar services who may not have been in education recently. Services will also have individual person specifications you are required to meet.

    Postgraduate route

    Accumulated credit volume of 360 FHEQ Level 4-6 credits (achieved to 2:1), of which at least 120 will be at FHEQ Level 6. Students should be working/ have recent experience in a relevant healthcare setting.

    Other entry requirements: Each student that is employed by the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies service is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) Section 4 (2) (Exemptions) Order 1975 and DHSS Circular HC (88)9 guidelines regarding police checks and child protection.

    Undergraduate route

    Students will normally hold a previously accumulated credit volume of 120 FHEQ Level 5 credits and 120FHEQ Level 4 credits. Students should be working/ have recent experience in a relevant healthcare setting. Students who do not have the above academic profile should seek advice as it may not exclude them from applying for our modules and programs of study.

    English language requirements

    • IELTS: 6.5 overall including 6.0 in each category.

    If you do not currently meet the level required for your program, offer intensive pre-sessional English language courses, designed to take you to the level of English ability and skill required for your studies.
