The University of Hull was formed in 1927, making us the 14th oldest university in England. With a proud history of academic excellence and of creating and inspiring life-changing research, we offer the perfect combination of heritage and high technology, all in a friendly and affordable student city.
Teaching and Research Excellence
Hull earned a silver award in the Government’s Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF 2018) which recognises excellence in teaching and learning in UK universities and colleges and specialises in a wide range of high-quality postgraduate taught courses and postgraduate research.
We’re in the top 50 universities for research power (REF 2014) and incredibly ambitious about our research agenda. We take on the big global challenges – from health to habitats, from food to flooding and from supply chains to slavery. Our seven research institutes bring together expertise from all corners of the university and our researchers work with key partners and stakeholders to deliver research that benefits everyone, and shapes and informs future policy.
With students from more than 100 countries around the world choosing to study at Hull, we are a truly global institution. An impressive 97.9% of our international students go into work or further study within six months of graduating (HESA 2018).
