I joined Ravensbourne as Director on 5 January 2015 and since then, like many of you are now, I’ve been in discovery mode. Since I joined I’ve been meeting our students and have been so inspired to see the range of talent and to hear about people's backgrounds and what energises them about studying here at Ravensbourne.
I was given the following quote just before I joined Ravensbourne and it seemed to me to fit our ethos here at Ravensbourne of providing the tools for you to embark on your own creative journeys.
“If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up the people to gather wood, divide the work, and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea.” - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
We hope you will choose Ravensbourne and become a member of this hugely talented community of staff, students and creative businesses based in the heart of the digital Greenwich Peninsula, in London.

Six reasons to choose Ravensbourne
There are many reasons to study at Ravensbourne, but here are our top six:
We've got a strong track record in getting good jobs for our graduates, because we equip them with the practical skills they need to excel in the workplace. Our current graduate employability rate, provided by the Higher Education Statistics Agency, is an impressive 97.2% putting us in the UK's top ten.
We have close working relationships with local and national industries, making sure that as a Ravensbourne learner you'll have access to a wealth of work placement opportunities.
We had more students involved in broadcasting the Olympic and Paralympic games than any other education institution in London, and we also ran live projects with prestigious firms such as Barclays, Marks and Spencer and Ogilvy.
Our staff aren't just highly regarded academics - many of them also bring with them years of experience with industry greats, from Vogue to Walt Disney Studios, the BBC and more. So you'll be learning from the experts.
Innovation is at the heart of all we do, so it's no surprise we're at the forefront of the creative and technology sectors.
We regularly hold events to bring creative minds together and stimulate debate, attracting some of the biggest names in the digital arts. In the past we have partnered with Mozilla on Mozfest, an event about the future of the web, as well as held Music Tech Fest and the 3D Storytelling conference, exploring the creative use of 3D.
We want to give our students the best access to cutting edge digital technology. So we have a laptop bursary scheme, offering a £300 discount for students enrolling on undergraduate courses. And you can find entitlements on creative software packages, some of which are free, at our student store.
In the 50 years since we were established, we've built a name for ourselves by producing some of Britain's finest - and most diverse - creative talent. We're currently ranked 27 in the world and 6th in the UK for Art & Design *QS World University Rankings
Fashion designer Stella McCartney, 2012 Olympic torch designer Jay Osgerby, music legend David Bowie and The King's Speech producer Simon Egan were all trained here. And thousands more of our alumni are making waves across their professions, with many picking up industry awards.
Our reputation is international - we were recently named one of the top 100 European design schools by Italian architecture and design magazine Domus.
As a cutting-edge creative institution, Ravensbourne couldn't be better placed. We're right next door to the world famous O2 music arena, and as a learner here you'll be eligible for discounts to a number of its restaurants, bars and shops.
We're on the Greenwich digital peninsula, London's newest digital community, and close to Tech City, the capital's fast-growing media and technology hub.
Our open plan building was designed for collaboration and creative working - winning the prestigious RIBA award for most innovative higher education building in London in 2011.
Not only will you have access to our high-tech creative suites and doubleheight HDTV studio, but you'll be sharing space with industry entrepreneurs.
We've hosted several high-profile commercial users, from Google and YouTube to The Walt Disney Company. And we're home to several start-up creative businesses through the Ravensbourne Incubator programme.
We encourage creativity and enterprise in our students and staff and champion the creative exploitation of digital technologies in design and communications.
We're leaders - stimulating our learners to join thousands of our graduates who are pushing the boundaries in their creative industries.
We're experts - Our staff aren't just academics. They're doers, still working in industry, so our learners get hands-on, practical training to prepare them for the future.
We're innovators - From our award-winning building to our latest, high-performance technology, we're made for incubating creativity.
We're collaborators - inspired by the new world, where traditional disciplines of design, media, innovation and communications merge, our learners inspire each other across their different fields.
And our renowned industry links give them the chance to sharpen their skills at placements in some of London's most exciting workplaces.
