Through a combination of core pure business modules developed by the well-respected Bristol Business School and equine business specific modules, these programmes have been designed to develop your understanding of the equine industry. The MA will also help you identify career opportunities available within the industry from a business management perspective.

Throughout the programme, we discuss the role of equestrianism as a sport, analyse the structure of equine industries, both nationally and internationally, and debate topical issues relating to the strategic development of the equine industry.

As a postgraduate student of Equine Business Management, you will be assigned a personal academic tutor who is there to provide you with advice and support during your time at Hartpury. Support for postgraduate study skills is also available during the induction period.... [-]

The MA delivers, from an academic perspective, the development of a conceptual understanding of the processes that underpin the effective management of sports services and events. This is done through the identification of clients’ needs, the application of financial and human resources and the development of business proposals and plans.

Postgraduate study in Equine Science at Hartpury can be the start of many exciting opportunities. The programmes consist of taught modules delivered via weekend study blocks to facilitate study alongside your career and a range of full and part-time study options are available to suit your personal circumstances. The modules will increase your knowledge and understanding but a key focus is an application of how equine science can maximize performance, enhance career longevity or aid in the selection of the performance horse, with a core goal of optimising the horse’s welfare. Throughout the modules, you will also gain ‘hands-on’ experience of modern technology, e.g. gait analysis and electromyography, utilized to assess performance which can build valuable skills for your future. The dissertation project allows you to take the knowledge and skills gained during the programme and apply them to a unique research project based upon your personal interest which could be linked to future career development or aspirations. Students are encouraged throughout their programme to attend conferences, present their research and become a member of the wider academic community including at our own annual Alltech-Hartpury Equine Performance conference....
