In the MA you will submit a written dissertation, and, if wished, a practical piece of work. You choose the balance between these theoretical and practical interests. Ceramics is a medium in which the practitioner occupies very different positions and frequently has opposing priorities and values drawn from previous personal experiences, technical competence and tacit knowledge. The MA Ceramics programme is for individuals seeking to extend and develop their practice as well as deepen their knowledge and understandings of the subject, as future practitioners, researchers or academics. The programme is a modular pathway within the Cardiff School of Sport's Postgraduate Scheme in Sport . A postgraduate programme that has been designed and will be delivered by industry professionals to create practitioners of Sport Broadcast and prepare them to be industry ready for employment in Sport Broadcasting. The programme has been written in collaboration with the Broadcast Journalism Training Council who will make an accreditation visit in 2017. Students will develop and master a wide spectrum of production skills, learn to self-shoot and edit and sharpen their journalistic instinct and editorial judgment. They will critically examine the reciprocal relationship between socio-political issues, modern media coverage and professional sport. Students will also study elements of media law, and analyse how ethics, a sense of fairness, impartiality, accuracy and a robust knowledge of regulations and rights play a crucial part in operating within the modern broadcasting landscape. The inclusion of a significant work placement module (60 credits) offers the opportunity to work in our internal broadcast unit for a minimum of 15 sport-news production days and provides a second placement opportunity with one of our external broadcast partners. We have placement opportunities with all the major broadcasters in Wales and further afield for students who are prepared to travel; these include a number of Welsh medium placement opportunities. The programme offers the following course specific compulsory modules: - Strength and Conditioning: Science and Application. - Strength and Conditioning: Theory to Practice. Course Content Visiting lecturers, drawn from the UK's most experienced strength and conditioning practitioners, complement the lectures given by the Cardiff School of Sport's specialist staff in strength and conditioning and associated discipline areas. The specialist modules are accompanied by a range of compulsory and option modules which are shared with other programmes in the School's Postgraduate Scheme in Sport Studies. Students are afforded the opportunity to develop the academic skills of critical appraisal and reflection alongside the practical skills and competencies that are required to work within this rapidly developing field.
