We prepare UW-Eau Claire business students for success by giving them the skills and knowledge they need to help build an ethical and prosperous global economy. We do this by developing in them the communication, technology, and teamwork skills to lead beneficial change.

  • COB students learn the value of giving back to the community by complete a minimum of 30 hours of service-learning prior to graduation.
  • 28% of all UW-Eau Claire students studying abroad were from the College of Business.
  • UW-Eau Claire COB students take more oral and written communication courses than business students at most other business schools. Of special note are our highly popular advanced business communication certificate and Student Professional Development Program.
  • Students learn the mechanics of what makes an effective team in their organizational behavior class. They put theory into practice in most of their business class after OB. Opportunities also exist for students to develop teamwork and leadership skills by participating in the Leadership Institute, joining a COB student organizations or completing our leadership certificate.

The Entrepreneur Program offers a unique learning experience for students who aspire to either start their own business or secure employment in a growth-oriented business. The program helps students to identify viable career options in entrepreneur /intrapreneur environments, to expand conceptual and creative approaches to the entrepreneurial process, and to develop a repertoire of venture management skills.

Multifaceted Program

Because Entrepreneurs are action-oriented people, the Entrepreneur program uses a hands-on approach to learning in addition to the lecture-from-the-book format used in most business programs. Students participate in a mentorship experience and a summer internship allowing them to interact with and learn from business community members. They also learn about entrepreneurship through case studies, field trips, and presentations by faculty, economic development specialists, angel investors and practicing entrepreneurs.... [-]

A hands-on program that prepares students for careers in a variety of administrative roles in health care. In addition to coursework in science, business, social sciences and health care administration, the major includes a 12-month practicum at a healthcare facility. [+]

Healthcare administration is the ideal management career for those who also want to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Health care administrators plan, direct, coordinate and supervise the delivery of healthcare services at organizations such as assisted living facilities, group homes, outpatient clinics, and hospices. They must balance the unique health care needs of the people they serve with dynamic changes in their industry, such as evolving integrated health care delivery systems, technological innovations, and complex legal and regulatory environments.

Graduates of the UW-Eau Claire program are prepared for a variety of managerial positions in the healthcare field, such as a nursing home administrator, human resources director, marketing manager, pharmaceutical salesperson, HMO underwriter, and health care consultant.
