The undergraduate curriculum focuses on the learning outcomes of communication, quantitative analysis, financial skills, strategic thinking, ethics and business in society, global awareness, teamwork, technology, and professionalism; competencies identified by South Sound business leaders as essential to a successful career in business. The BABA offers concentrated studies in accounting, finance, management, marketing, and general business. Internship opportunities allow students to apply the skills learned in class to real-world work situations while gaining valuable experience.

The MBA curriculum provides current and future managers with the knowledge necessary to succeed in an increasingly dynamic and complex 21st-century business environment. The program integrates leadership, technological, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills. Students learn to assess trends in today's fast-paced business environment and to develop and implement change effectively. The part-time evening program is designed for working adults with busy lives and the need to balance school, work, and personal life.

The Milgard master of accounting (MAcc) program is designed to bolster accounting careers with a practical and research-based curriculum in public, corporate, government and not-for-profit sector accounting. Our program meets the academic year requirement to sit for the CPA exam--many of our MAcc students do! Conveniently offered weekday evenings, our courses are designed to enable students to obtain their MAcc degree in nine months.

This track is open to recent graduates and professionals seeking to solidify their accounting skills to succeed in professional careers. It also provides students with necessary credit hours to qualify for the CPA exam in Washington State.

Who should apply?

Those who have a bachelor's degree and want to earn a master's degree in accounting to meet requirements for CPA examination. As a full-time program, it is ideal for international and military students.

Format Courses are taught on the UW Tacoma campus in the evening to accommodate schedules of working professionals The student cohort admits for autumn quarter and classes meet autumn through spring Program can be completed in two academic years (18 months) Results Become eligible for the CPA exam by earning all upper-division credits Make an exciting career change. Must have earned a B (GPA of 3.0 on a 4-point scale) or better in each of these courses. Courses emphasize the skills and tools accountants need to be able to inform and assist decision makers. Key areas of accounting and business knowledge covered in our coursework include advanced topics in accounting, international accounting, planning, control and performance evaluation, financial statement analysis, financial accounting theory, taxation of businesses, and business law and ethics.

Our program provides the necessary fifth-year of higher education required for the State of Washington CPA exam.
