SUNY Buffalo University at Buffalo School of Management

Introduction

The UB School of Management is a vibrant and inclusive community of big thinkers and even bigger doers. We work together to question and upend theories, lifting each other up and driving change. Because at the UB School of Management, ambition is a virtue, tenacity is a given, and discovery happens everywhere, from the classroom to the boardroom. That’s just how we do it here.

A Tradition of Excellence

Since 1923, the UB School of Management has built an impressive reputation as one of the best schools of business in the world. The comprehensive range of our academic portfolio, the expertise of our faculty and the worldwide success of our graduates are the primary reasons for the school’s acclaim.

A Global Presence

Today the educational reputation of the School of Management literally spans the globe, and students at the school hail from all over the world. In any given class, a visitor to the school may find students from Buffalo or New York City sitting beside students from Asia or Germany, as they listen to a professor who recently returned from teaching undergraduates in Singapore.

In an increasingly global business environment, the diversity of our programs and our international reputation help ensure that the School of Management degree is a credential that opens doors for our graduates at any business anywhere in the world.

A Nationally Ranked Full-Time MBA Program

Our nationally ranked full-time MBA program has been preparing students for leadership positions in management since 1931. Combine a foundation-building core with flexible, career-targeted electives. Add to this the practice of learning at three levels—individual, study team and cohort—and award-winning programs like LeaderCORE™ and Corporate Champions, and you have an unbeatable experience.

Executive and Professional MBAs

Top executives from Western New York’s leading corporations benefit from the school’s MBA programming too, through enrollment in our dynamic Executive MBA program. Since its establishment in 1994, hundreds of business leaders have graduated from this intensive 17-month program, designed for the area’s most talented and experienced executives.

Our Professional MBA program, a hybrid of in-person and web-based learning, offers evening and Saturday options and can be completed in as little as 27 months. Designed for business people with at least one year of professional work experience, it is the most prestigious and least expensive part-time program MBA in Western New York.

Strong International Presence

Internationally, we offer a bachelor's degree in business in Singapore in collaboration with the Singapore Institute of Management. We also offer a collaborative venture in Bangalore, India, that consists of two master's degrees: a Master of Science in Management Science: Business Analytics and Systems from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a Master of Business Administration from Amrita University.

Leading Undergraduate Programs

At the undergraduate level, more than 2,900 students enroll annually in our nationally regarded programs in business administration and accounting. Many of these students benefit from an internship program that is considered to be one of the best and largest in the country.

Prestigious Doctoral Degree

Our Management PhD program, with more than 45 students, is the premier doctoral program in the SUNY system and recruits students worldwide. Graduates accept positions at major universities throughout the U.S. and at leading consulting and research firms.

Custom Corporate Training, Entrepreneurship and Leadership

In addition to credit-bearing programs, we also provide innovative education and professional development programs for executives, professionals and organizations through our Center for Executive Development (CED). The CED offers a host of non-credit-bearing training programs customized for companies and individuals. Offerings include instruction in leadership, supervisory skills, marketing, LEAN manufacturing, project management and many others. Programs can generally be tailored to fit the training needs of any organization. A wide and diverse array of organizations participate in CED training on an annual basis.

The School of Management is also home to the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership (CEL), which has been enhancing the entrepreneurial talents of business creators and managers since 1987 to improve their prospects for growth. Advancing entrepreneurship is vital to invigorating the university, the surrounding community and the greater Western New York economy. The CEL provides individualized and interactive education in entrepreneurship.

The School of Management’s Center for Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness (CLOE) was launched in 2013 to create more effective leaders and organizations. Built on a foundation of high-impact scholarship and problem-focused organizational and economic engagement, CLOE strives to be an internationally recognized center for producing thought leadership in organizational leadership and innovation.
