The HTM Department offers thesis and non-thesis tracks, both leading to the Master of Science degree.The thesis track is designed with flexible requirements to allow students to develop individualized courses of study with their major professor and committee. It includes courses in HTM and other departments in the Isenberg School of Management. A research-based thesis is required (6-credits).The non-thesis track also includes courses in HTM and other departments in the Isenberg School of Management. As one of the first Sport Management Programs in the country, the University of Massachusetts draws on 35 years of experience in Sport Management education to offer a 35-credit Masters of Science Degree program. Students take 29 credits of course work over the Fall and Spring semesters of one academic year.

To earn the additional 6 credits, students have three options:

1. Complete a six credit internship with a sport organization OR2. Complete two additional Sport Management electives OR3. Complete a Master's Thesis
