Sabanci University

Introduction

Overview

In 1994 the Sabancı Group of Turkey decided to establish a "world university" led by the Sabancı Foundation. In the end, instead of choosing one university as a template or replicating existing examples and institutions,a new and unique university was designed. The main differentiator of Sabancı University is its unique educational system. Sabancı University is a leading global university with interdisciplinaryeducation that focuses on research and the individual; an environment of free academic choice and performance and a globally-influential faculty. Our university has become an international point of reference with its participation in flagship research projects; with its innovative model of education that gives its students full freedom in choosing their area of study.

Given Turkey's candidacy, there is a pressing need for advancing EU studies in Turkey and generating an awareness in the Turkish public opinion as well as the policy-making circles about the European Union, its decision-making procedures, its institutions. This is reflected in the increasing demand coming from the private sector to employ specialists who know how decisions are made within EU and how they might be effectively pursued and shaped. Private sector organizations in Turkey will require all the human resources they can find to compete in the increasingly complex European and related global markets. Similarly in the government sector, the prospects of the start of accession negotiations imply an immediately growing need for a new breed of able and knowledgeable public servants specializing in the European related issues. Obtaining the MA degree of the Visual Art and Visual Communication Design graduate program involves a 4 semester long period of rigorous study which combines studio work in art, design or theoretical study related to these fields, and which form the three main tracks of the program. The degree requirement is a fully articulated studio project or a written theoretical dissertation which revolves around a cohesive query, concept or topic that can be applied to at least one of the three areas of investigation of the program, and which as a finalized product is expected to be presented to a jury at the end of studies. While students may choose to remain solely within any of the three main tracks indicated above, due to the increased nature of hybridization in the overall field of art, design and related theory we also make provisions for hybrid projects/written theses which spread themselves out over two or more of these fields, or combine the expertise and methodologies of them into novel outcomes which reside at their intersections. Our faculty is comprised of a small but strongly committed group of individuals, whose output and recognition well extends into the international arena of art, design and theory; and a significant number of whom can profess to hybrid expertise and interest areas that lie at the convergence points of several related, but nonetheless distinct, fields. Program objectives VACD Master's Program is designed on the basic philosophy of both Sabancı University and VACD Master's Program that is... [-]

Master's Degree Program for Professionals Big data is paving the way to empower businesses to make better decisions: With the amount of digital data increasing at an enormous rate, rigorous research is carried out in an effort to extract value from the massive data sets, to turn them into smarter decisions for improving business results. The emerging field of Data Analytics holds the key to unleashing that potential. Data Analytics is considered to be a relatively new field which integrates state-of-the-art computational and statistical techniques to extract business value from a rapidly expanding volume of data. Many consulting firms claim that Data Analytics will be one of the key skills of the 21st century. Most critical issue, however, is the shortage of analytical talent that could turn the high-volume data into useful information that will be used for better decision making. In a business world in which the gap between winners and losers is narrowing down, companies are increasingly turning to data analytics to gain a competitive advantage in productivity, profitability and sustainable manufacturing processes for better products and better services. To be able to do that, companies need trained workforce skilled in Data Analytics, who are equipped to manage, understand and model the data, interpret the outcome and communicate the results for business use. Professionals holding a degree in Data Analytics will be well positioned to help their organizations gain a competitive advantage in a data-driven world. This program is designed to help our participants develop the skill set... [-]
