Brief Introduction of TMUST

Embracing the philosophy of holistic education, we are dedicated to cultivating students’ practical skills. Currently, we have three colleges which are the Colleges of Finance, Management and Informatics, four graduate schools, 12 departments, 1 departmental team (1系組) and 1 degree program. Additionally, we established an on-the-job Master program in 2010. In order to enhance the quality of our teaching staff, professors such as Lee Chia-Tung, Chen Ming-Zhang, Chen Guang-Xian, Xu Sheng-Hsiung, Lin Wei-Yi, Pan Zhao-Xian, Luo Neng-Qing, Hua Ming-Shu, Chen Wen-Xian have been recruited.

TMUST is located in Neihu district, one of the fast growing districts in Taipei and is easily accessible by public transportation. We have Mt. Shi-Bi, Bi-Hu Park, Kee-Lung River and Taipei Nei-Hu Technology Park nearby. Students can not only enjoy the fresh air but also see the beautiful view all the time. This has made our campus an ideal place for students to pursue their academic knowledge.

Life on Campus

Scholarship

There are up to 200 kinds of scholarships provided by TMUST and external organizations. We also have emergency allowances for students who need it. All scholarships are open for both international and domestic students to apply for.

Clubs

There are around 60 clubs in TMUST and they could be categorized as academic, recreational, athletic, volunteering and comprehensive. Through these club activities, students are expected to learn how to work together with other students and thus is expected to enhance students’ social and adaptive ability.

Library

The automatic system integrated in TMUST’s library greatly increases the management efficiency and becomes helpful in students’ information search. The system is also connected to Taiwan academic network. All the books and journals housed in the library are displayed in an open-access manner. Various kinds of demonstrative classes and courses are held irregularly.

Cafeteria

On campus, TMUST has its own student cafeteria and convenient store. There are also various food stands, supermarkets, bazaars, department stores, hypermarkets, etc nearby to meet students’ diverse demands.

Master in Financial Planning and Tax Management

This is the first graduate school set up based on customers’ viewpoint of financial planning in Taiwan. The purpose of its establishment is to provide professional knowledge about income and tax management so that our students are trained to be good at their own financial management or become professional tax managers. Master in Financial Planning and Tax Management Department of Banking and Finance Introduction In 1994, this department was established as the Banking and Finance Section. Our school was restructured as a technology institute in 2000. In 2009, we established the financial planning and tax management master program. In August 1994, we established the day division five-year college. In August 1996, we established the evening division 2-year college In August 1998, we established the weekend division 2-year college. In August 2000, we established the day and evening division 2-year technical school. In August 2001, we established the weekend division 2-year technical school. In August 2002, we established the evening division 4-year technical school. In August 2003, we established the day division 4-year technical school. In 2009, we established the financial planning and tax management master program. Feature Department of Banking and Finance Cultivating talents specializing in all aspects of finance is our departmental objective. Our curriculum is designed with both theories and practice equally valued. We also set up a license application supporting program to help our students obtain as many licenses as possible. Our major objective is to cultivate talents and equip them with global trade and logistics managerial capabilities. Our research fields include chains and franchising management, logistics management, international business administration, etc. Currently, we have two teams - chains and franchising and global trade and logistics in our graduate institute. After we finish integrating faculty resources, we will have more teams (e.g. international business administration team, etc) Objectives We aim at cultivating talents with integrated knowledge and skills of trade and logistics, independent thinking and problem-solving abilities. We expect our students to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical training so as to provide helpful information to efficiently facilitate top management’s decision-making. Master in Marketing Management Introduction The Department of Marketing Management was established in 2004 and due to the increased business activities of trade shows and conventions around the world in recent years, the Division of International Convention, Exhibition and Tourism Management was founded in 2009. The Graduate School of Services and Operation Management which was established in 2007 joint the Department of Marketing Management in 2011. Currently the Department offers two master programs. Goal The goal of this department is to provide and strengthen students with professional knowledge and capabilities in marketing and international marketing management field. Objectives & Curriculum The objective of the department is to educate students with professional marketing knowledge and capabilities. Students are expected to manage marketing activities related to B2C and B2B. The curriculum includes the basic management courses and professional courses, consumer behavior module and business marketing module. In addition, the department offers courses such as foreign language, information system and assistance with the preparation for professional certificates. Practical training courses in summer break or within the semester is one of the cores of the Department. These include being a trainee in corporations, visiting corporations and working with industry-cooperation projects.
