Rochester-Bern Executive Programs is a subsidiary of the Simon School at the University of Rochester (NY, USA). It was founded in 1994 and is located at the Universität Bern. Rochester-Bern develops, organizes, and implements high-quality further education. Its main product is the Rochester-Bern Executive MBA, one of the leading EMBA programs in Switzerland. Since the beginning of 2007, Rochester-Bern also offers company-specific programs and seminars. Companies such as SBB, Berner Kantonalbank, Fresenius, and UBS are some of the clients. Degree courses such as the CAS in General Management for Board of Directors or further education in Banking and Finance in cooperation with the Swiss Finance Institute (SFI) round off the versatile, high-quality offering of Rochester-Bern Executive Programs.

Simon Business School, University of Rochester

The University of Rochester, an independent, privately endowed and managed university founded in 1850, is among the leading private institutions of higher learning in the United States. Rochester faculty and alumni have included eight Nobel Prize winners and twelve Pulitzer Prize winners.

The Simon Business School is one of the seven schools that make up the University of Rochester. It looks back on more than 50 years of experience in the Executive MBA market. In 2017, Financial Times ranked the Simon Business School number 2 in the world in finance and number 5 in the world in economics.


Institut für Finanzmanagement, Universität Bern

The Universität Bern was founded in 1834 and is one of ten universities in Switzerland. It consists of eight faculties and has a distinguished reputation in economics. The Institut für Finanzmanagement (IFM) is part of the management faculty. The IFM focuses on teaching, research, and consulting in corporate finance, corporate governance, risk management, performance measurement, and behavioral finance. The role of the IFM in the program is to provide logistical support and back office services.

The cooperation with the University of Rochester goes back to the well-known monetarist Karl Brunner who worked at both universities in the early seventies. The actual founder of the Rochester-Bern Executive MBA is Claudio Loderer, Director of the Institut für Finanzmanagement and both a former student of Karl’s and a Ph.D. from Rochester.

About the Foundation

The Rochester-Bern Executive MBA program was started in 1994. It is run through a foundation and is financially self-supporting. Foundation board members are business leaders or academics; they do not have any financial stake in the program. The foundation’s activities are monitored by an advisory board of alumni which provides guidance and support.


The Rochester-Bern Executive MBA program, as part of the Simon Business School, carries with it the reputation of one of the world’s top graduate business schools. The Simon Business School has been fully accredited by the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) International since 1966.
