The University of St.Gallen (HSG), Switzerland, was founded as a “Business Academy” in 1898 – in the heyday of St.Gallen embroidery – and offered its first lectures in 1899. The HSG continues to pursue the goal of providing its more than 8,500 students with a practice-oriented education, guided by an integrative view of Management, Economics, Law, Social Sciences and International Affairs.

With success: the University of St.Gallen has constantly been ranked among the top business schools in Europe. The Master's Programme in Strategy and International Management is ranked 1st worldwide in the Financial Times Masters in Management Ranking. The Master’s Programme in Economics (MEcon) will provide you with an all-encompassing education in economics. You will acquire extensive theoretical and empirical knowledge that will enable you to understand the great social and economic challenges of our time in depth. The focus will be on the analysis of economic problems and on solving strategies for politics, business and society. Well-founded knowledge in core subjects and in attractive specialisations, as well as a thorough mastery of demanding empirical methods, will ensure a successful career start. [+]

In the MEcon, you will acquire an indepth methodological knowledge of modern theory and empiricism and a clear understanding of the central economic and societal contiguities. You will learn to make use of this knowledge for the solution of great economic and social problems. The MEcon is emphatically application-oriented and, besides imparting methodological know-how, will also train your communication and leadership competencies. The programme will prepare you for a wide range of demanding professional activities in practice, as well as for Ph.D. studies at the start of an academic career.
