Research at the Faculty of Technology
Wood is one material which has followed human beings throughout their history. The region around Växjö is one of the most important areas in Europe with regards to forest exploitation and the forestry industry. Linnaeus University’s research on the theme of wood and energy technology is both internationally recognized and vital for the industry in the region. These initiatives encompass the research profiles of bioenergy, forestry and wood technology together with wood building-construction.
Other subjects within the faculty are computer engineering, informatics, media technology, mathematics, mathematics education, physics and electrical engineering.
Within the area of media technology/informatics, the Center for Learning and Knowledge Technologies (CeLeKT) constitutes a research environment which focuses on information technology and innovative learning methods.
Kalmar Maritime Academy offers vocationally-orientated degree programmes, commissioned education and an expanding area of research in close proximity to the real world of merchant shipping. World class simulators, the Calmare Nyckel training vessel and modern facilities for practical work are a natural part of the working organization at the Maritime Academy, which has a close dialogue with the shipping industry.
Cooperation at the Faculty of Technology
Cooperation – increasingly important
Linnaeus University cooperates with the surrounding society through education and research. The objective of our cooperation is, among other things, to improve education, develop knowledge and growth.
Evolution needs change which, in its turn, means new perspectives. This is something our researchers and students can help you with. Together you will be able to create ideas that make your organization more competitive while at the same time making our education more attractive.
We can cooperate through research and development but also by giving members of your staff new abilities through commissioned programs or courses.
You may also want one of our students to take an internship with you or write their thesis at your company.
Teachers and researchers of the Faculty can also be invited for speaking at your company/organization.
It is of utmost importance that our students have knowledge about the working life ahead. Through contact with our partners, they are able to get it.
