With its c. 4500 students the School of Business and Economics is one of Sweden’s largest business schools in terms of number of students. Yet despite its size the priority for the School is the close relationship between students and lecturers.
13 Bachelor programmes within business and economics form the basis of our education. We also offer 250 independent courses, six 1-year Master’s programmes and three 2-year Master’s programmes.
Our programmes and courses cover a range of different subjects, including tourism, entrepreneurship, marketing, retail, international business and logistics.
Researchers from the School of Business and Economics participate in a number of research groups including the Baltic Business Research Center (BBRC), the Center for Cultural Economy (CCE), the Centre for Labour Market Policy Research (CAFO), the Corporate Governance Research Group, the Research Centre for Labour Economics and Social Cognition (LESC). Some of our strongest research areas are entrepreneurship, international marketing, economics and tourism.
The School is primarily located in Kalmar and Växjö, but a few programmes also operate in Hultsfred and Ljungby. The school has an annual budget of 150 million kronor and c. 200 employees.
The School of Business and Economics values its international character and therefore fosters its international contacts. Every year we welcome c. 450 international students, while c. 300 of our own students spend time abroad studying at one of our 135 partner universities.
Focus on discussion
Creativity and individual development are given a great deal of emphasis at the School of Business and Economics. The educational environment is personal and builds on involvement, of both lecturers and students. Creative learning is always in focus. Exchanging opinions, bouncing around ideas, giving and receiving new impulses, all lead to stimulation and provide deeper knowledge.
At the School of Business and Economics we have tried to create an environment where all this is possible, and we think we have succeeded. The School is fresh and modern, providing plenty of resources and space.
