The Bratislava International School of Liberal Arts is founded on the principles of the liberal arts and sciences. A typical seminar consists of 7–10 students. All courses are taught in English. A basic knowledge of English is sufficient for any applicant to qualify for our study program as BISLA has excellent training in academic English. After Graduation BISLA students acquire skills and knowledge that enable them to apply for positions in the private sector, public administration, media and non-governmental organizations. Students organize extracurricular activities for themselves, such as journals, theatre and sports club, etc. Each semester, 5–6 students spend a semester abroad in places like London, Tilburg, Maastricht, Hong Kong, St. Petersburg, and Vermont, USA. Extracurricular Activities In addition to the school, BISLA is engaged in many scientific, cultural, and educational projects and initiatives. It publishes Kritika a Kontext (Critique and Context), a journal of critical thinking.Every week during the academic year, BISLA hosts public discussions in English as well as Slovak on topics such as the migration crisis or prison conditions.

The Academy of Fine Arts and Design is an artistic educational institution with strong position and great prestige among other Slovak universities and faculties focused on art. Great deal of its performance is focused on artistic and scientific-research activities, as well as on emerging international cooperation within the European education, art and research area. The Academy of Fine Arts and Design is one of the biggest and oldest Slovak institutions offering university education in various study programmes focused on art. In more then six decades of its existence, the Academy has established itself as an institution with strong position among art schools in Central European region, and at the same time it is continually strengthening its position within the European Union. Despite the fact, that AFAD was confronted with numerous changes during its existence, including various ideological pressures, it has always remained committed to its progressive nature. Mission of AFAD The mission of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava is to enhance education in accredited study programmes, strengthen creative and critical thinking, support independent artistic and scientific research and artistic creation, as well as to encourage creative spirit of the human society adhering to humanistic values. The mission of AFAD doesn´t only draw on social utility and public interest, but also on the belief, that just like the science helps to learn about structured nature of the world, the art can embrace this knowledge in its own way – throughout genesis, existence and mental wealth of a human being - and to introduce it in the form of art performances and works of art. The Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava is a public academy. Besides education at all three levels of university study (bachelor, master and doctoral levels) in study programmes Fine Arts, Design, Architecture, Restoration and at the doctoral level in study programme Theory and History of Art and Architecture, it also offers a whole range of other educational activities of additional education. AFAD is not structured into faculties, but directly into twelve Departments and a Division of Drawing. This organization structure enables the Academy to be a flexible and open educational institution and to create interdisciplinary educational environment. The study at AFAD is structured in accordance with the Bologna declaration, whereas its organization and evidence is based on credit system, as provided by law. The implementation of the Bologna declaration has caused splitting the then 6-year master level study programme into two levels: 4-year bachelor and 2-year master study programme. A new level of study programme has been opened (Doctoral level), which had to be implemented from scratch, as there was no tradition of such level at art schools in this region. Results in the essential areas of artistic and scientific-research activities of the Academy, as well as in academic project activities, determine its further development and are directly linked to its profiling, competencies and professional level in university education. The basic strategic objective of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava is defined in the long-term plan for years 2012 – 2018. As stated in the document, the aim of AFAD is to improve and develop educational, artistic and reaserach activities, as well as to accomplish its cultural and humanizing mission. Further development of the Academy anticipates its complex readiness to answer new quality criteria of the educational process and increasing demands on the level of the outcomes of the artistic and research activities. Another requirement is the ability of the Academy to perceive variable conditions in social development, react to these changes, take into account results of these processes, critically evalute processes in social-cultural life and to adopt relevant attitudes.
UNIVERSITY PROFILE The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics TU of Košice (FEI TU of Košice) was founded on the basis of the executive order no. 79/1969 of 21st July 1969 as the faculty with the former name the Electrical Engineering Faculty Technical University of Košice. Since the foundation of the faculty, not only electrical engineering but also branches of study and science were successfully established to a significant extent which are now represented by… [+] the branches from the field of informatics. From 15th April 1994, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics TU of Košice carries its new name. The main role of FEI TU of Košice is providing the university education on the basis of the creative scientific research especially involving the branches of study like the electrical engineering or the informatics. 153 university teachers at the faculty try to accomplish this goal including 29 professors, 35 docents and 89 lecturers. 6 researchers work at the university too. In 2016, 2 079 students studied at the Bachelor and Engineer studies and 109 students at the Doctorate studies at the faculty. Up to the present time, the faculty raised more than 15 000 absolvents. The goal of the faculty is to make the name of our faculty resonate between the experts and the laymen as the name of the significant and qualified scientific and educational institution capable of running scientific and practice projects. Under the Operational Programme Research and Development, the faculty gained from the structural funds for the development of the Centres of Excellence the unique Centre of Information and Communication Technologies for Knowledge-based Systems and the Centre of Excellence of Integrated Research and Exploitation Advanced Materials and Technologies in Automotive Electronics. The faculty confirmed its significant position in the complex accreditation of the universities in Slovakia by meeting the criteria for the highest possible degree “A” in all fields of the research where the faculty takes its place. GRADUATE EMPLOYMENT At the present time, there is a wide range of the employment possibilities for the graduates from FEI TU of Košice. The graduates are well-prepared for the requirements of industry, development and research. TEACHING OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES The English language is a compulsory course in the 4th semester. The students of FEI TU can improve their language skills in the optional courses which are provided by the Department of Languages TU of Košice. The English, French, German and Russian language is taught at the university. According to their skills, the students can enrol in a preparatory course of the foreign language, a general course of the foreign language, a special course of the foreign language and conversations for the advanced students. Every course takes a place during two semesters. LEISURE ACTIVITIES FOR STUDENTS The FEI TU is well known for the space provided to its students which they can use during their free time. The student council, which carries out its duty at the dormitory at Jedlíkova 9, is the umbrella organization for the various interest groups. The students have an opportunity to directly participate in the activities in the clubs such as the TV studio of the dormitory, the radio studio “Radio 9” of the dormitory and the PC Club. The other traditional activities of the faculty's students are the organization of the matriculation ball, the discos and the other sport activities which have very good conditions in the gymnasiums of the dormitory and its environment. BOARD AND LODGING The students of FEI TU have a possibility to find an accommodation in the dormitories of TU in Košice which are represented by the complex of 7 university dormitories. The students of FEI TUKE are accommodated in the Dormitory at Jedlíkova street no. 9. They have their own Internet café and they have a possibility to connect their computers to the web in their rooms. The boarding is provided in the canteen of the dormitory and in the catering establishment in the campus. The catering establishments are represented by the restaurant system which means that the student chooses the catering establishment according to the place where he is at a given time on given day. The student chooses his food from the wide offer of the food at any day or night time. The University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice is a one faculty university providing higher education in accredited study programmes of all three levels of higher education.
