Introduction

Founded in 1972, Universidad del Turabo (UT) is a professionally oriented institution located in the central eastern region of Puerto Rico. The main campus is located in the municipality of Gurabo (20 minutes south of San Juan). Its 140-acre campus provides an ideal atmosphere that enhances the students’ learning experiences.

UT has a main campus and five university centers across the island: Cayey, Yabucoa, Barceloneta, Isabela, and Ponce; it also offers several programs at AGMUS’ US branch campuses. The academic offerings are organized into eight areas: Engineering, Science and Technology, Health Sciences, Education, Business and Entrepreneurship, Design and Architecture, Social Sciences, and General Studies.

UT serves a diverse student body from the surrounding communities and from 23 countries (mostly Latin America). The student population of approximately 15,500 is composed of young adults and professionals. The academic staff consists of approximate of 205 full-time faculty members and 55% approximately hold doctoral degrees.
