Introduction

Founded in 1972, Universidad del Turabo (UT) is a professionally oriented institution located in the central eastern region of Puerto Rico. The main campus is located in the municipality of Gurabo (20 minutes south of San Juan). Its 140-acre campus provides an ideal atmosphere that enhances the students’ learning experiences.

UT offers more than 100 degree programs: associates, bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees - many available online - so that you'll be ready for wherever the future takes you. The academic offerings are organized into eight areas: Engineering, Science and Technology, Health Sciences, Education, Business and Entrepreneurship, Design and Architecture, Social Sciences and Communications, and General Studies.

UT has a main campus and five university centers across the island: Cayey, Yabucoa, Barceloneta, Isabela, and Ponce; it also offers several programs at AGMUS’ US branch campuses. The academic offerings are organized into eight areas: Engineering, Science and Technology, Health Sciences, Education, Business and Entrepreneurship, Design and Architecture, Social Sciences, and General Studies.

UT serves a diverse student body from the surrounding communities and from 23 countries (mostly Latin America). The student population of approximately 15,500 is composed of young adults and professionals. The academic staff consists of approximate of 205 full-time faculty members and 55% approximately hold doctoral degrees. The university is accredited by the prestigious Middle States Commission on Higher Education, UT also has several professional accreditations which add a seal of quality to the education of its students.

Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering

The Master of Science with specialization in Mechanical Engineering provides a rigorous educational experience in electrical engineering. The program affords an opportunity for practicing engineers and others to advance their technical competencies and develop professionally. Each student is required to take five (5) designated core courses and complete the remaining coursework requirements by selecting from a wide range of electives in power systems, control systems, electronics, computers, digital signal processing, and other department-approved electives. Each student is required to take five (5) designated core courses and complete the remaining coursework requirements by selecting from a wide range of electives in power systems, control systems, electronics, computers, digital signal processing, and other department-approved electives. Students may choose one of three study plans: M.S. with thesis, M.S. with the project, or M.Eng. course-only. Successful completion of an M.S. degree will uniquely prepare graduates for future doctoral studies or challenging careers in industry; an M.Eng. degree will greatly enhance professional qualifications for career advancement or future academic endeavors. If an area of specialization is not declared, a student will have the opportunity to collaborate with a professor in research in other areas of interest in mechanical engineering.
