Free International University of Moldova(ULIM) is situated in the center of the capital of the Republic of Moldova – Chisinau city. Conceived as an alternative university, Free International University of Moldova is a self-financed and self administrated institution. It was founded on 16 October 1992 by government decision and is accredited by the National Council for Academic Assessment and Accreditation of the Republic of Moldova. ULIM is a medium-size international university with about 9000 students, including foreign ones, coming from various countries like: USA, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Romania, Russia, Middle East countries etc. Free International University of Moldova is a leading academic center and a significant point of reference in society, and it adheres to the principles of European Higher Education Area and signed Magna Charta Universitatum.
ULIM offers academic programmes at all levels including: Bachelor, Master, Doctoral, Postdoctoral and continuous training from which: 81 at 1st cycle, 100 at 2nd cycle, 50 at 3rd cycle (most of the programmes being offered in foreign language), and over 15 at continuous training. The academic programmes are organized in 7 faculties as follows: Law, Letters, Economic sciences, Biomedicine and Ecology, Informatics and Engineering, History and International Relations, Psychology and Social Work. The master and doctoral programmes are integrated all in one department.
The university’s strategic goal is to continue meeting the needs of its students and providing innovative high-quality academic programs that can respond in a timely manner to societal issues and problems. University constantly collaborates with more than 100 prestigious universities from 40 different countries. The degrees granted by the Free International University of Moldova are recognized in most countries in the world. ULIM has signed about 100 partnership agreements with prestigious universities and scientific institutions throughout the world, as well as with partners from business environment and public agencies and organization, with embassies accredited in the Republic of Moldova. The university has developed joint programs, research projects and summer schools in cooperation with well-known universities from Europe, Russia, USA, China, Korea, etc.
Free International University of Moldova is a full member of important international university networks like: European University Association, International University Association, European Language Council, European Law Faculty Association, L'Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), International Association of University Presidents, Global University Network for Innovation, etc. ULIM hosts several cultural and language centers as Chinese Confucius Institute; Korean Se Jong; Spanish Center Cervantes; British Center and others. Free International University of Moldova is in top international rankings. ULIM has been recently included in the new global university ranking, U-Multirank-2015, that is a new user-driven, multidimensional, world ranking of universities and colleges, covering many aspects of higher education: research, teaching and learning, international orientation, knowledge transfer and regional engagement. U-Multirank is an independent ranking, with financial support from the European Union.
