The vision of the university is to be "a world-class university for advancing biblical values through academic excellence and transformational leadership."
The mission of the University is "to educate and train Christ-like visionary leaders to spearhead holistic transformation in Africa and the world." This mission is expounded in the following statements:
a. Purpose Statement
The purpose of the University is to educate and train men and women in order to equip them to provide leadership to the Church and society based on biblical priorities and to spearhead spiritual, social and cultural transformation in Africa and the world.

The International Leadership University is a non-profit institution, committed to offering quality education which is self-sustainable.

The International Leadership University - Kenya is an evangelical Christian University, whose philosophy shall consist of the Statement of Faith as outlined in section 5 of the Statutes. Christian spiritual values form the foundation of all the objects, functions and, programs of the University. The determination of curriculum; the selection of students, lecturers, and administrators; the requirements for graduation; the character expectations of staff, students, administrators, and lecturers; and the means used for funding and development are all based on biblical values.

Academic Qualification and Requirements
Applicants for Certificate Program
Applicants holding a mean grade of D+ (Plus) at KCSE qualify to enroll for a certificate program in the various disciplines of study at the University.
Applicants for Diploma Program
Applicants holding a mean grade of C- (Minus) at KCSE qualify for either Regular or Open, Distance – Learning mode (ODLM) specifically for the Diploma and Certificates students. Credits from a Diploma with good grades (B (Plain) and above may be transferable into a relevant Bachelors program, depending on the content equivalency in relation to bachelors’ program requirements.
The K.C.S.E mean grade of C (Plain) qualifies an applicant to take either a pre- university or bridging course of 28 credits of 7 subjects at 4 credit hours per subject.
Applicants for Bachelors’ Degrees
Applicants holding a mean grade of C+ (Plus) at K.C.S.E or equivalent with at least C+ (Plus) in English and Mathematics or mean grade of C (Plain) with a diploma (Passed with credit) in any field of study with two (2) years working experience in a relevant field e.g. Counseling, Religion, Social Work, Welfare, Psychology and HIV/AIDS, may apply.
Applicants for Masters Degrees
Applicants for Master’s degree should have earned recognized first (1st) degree with at least second (2nd) upper class honors in a related field from an accredited University or college with a minimum grade point average (G.P.A) of 2.75 on a scale 4.0 scale.
A second class honors lower division or G.P.A of 2.5 may be considered for admission if they have at least 2 years experience in a related field, and if accepted, will be placed under academic probation during the 1st semester of study.
