Bologna Business School's Headquarters is located at Villa Guastavillani, a Renaissance building from the 16th century located on the Bolognese hills, less than ten minutes from the city center. The Master in Data Science is designed for recent graduates interested in management and data analysis and who would like to take on a role which is central to any business and its value creation. A Data Scientist has already become one of the most sought-after specialists in the professional world. The data business is becoming a key sector for the European economy, the development of products and services based on data and the analysis of data collected in companies, public entities or that are available on social networks. The aim being to obtain operational indications and to identify new business opportunities. Big Data is a big challenge of today’s world, but we are training professionals to understand and create value from this complex information. Companies, in fact, have both a need and an urgency to manage the acquisition, presentation, sharing, analysis and visualization of data. Data Scientist is defined by the Economist as “the most interesting job of the twenty-first century, combining the skills of an IT technician, statistician and storyteller to extract the golden nuggets hidden under the mountains of data.” The Master in Data Science offers 3 different types of skills: solid computer training, an understanding of the technological aspects and knowledge of business dynamics. This Master creates professionals with across-the-board skills who are able to integrate with the company’s management. The program concludes with a Field Laboratory Work and a company internship. THE MASTER IS AN INVESTMENT. THE HONOR LOAN IS THE WAY TO FUND IT. “PerTe Prestito Con Lode”, a long-term and low-interest honor loan, with no collateral required to cover the full amount of the tuition fee. STRUCTURE The Master in Data Science is a full-time program structured in 1,500 hours of learning activities over 12 months of study, divided into: 360 hours of lecturing, an estimated 540 hours of independent study, and 600 hours of internship. The structure of the Master is divided into two terms: First term: December 2017 – April 2018 Second term: April 2018 – July 2018 Internship: September 2018 – December 2018 The Master offers a series of pre-courses at the start of the academic schedule: Software programming (Python), the foundations of data and SQL, basics in descriptive and inferential statistics, explorative data analysis and the fundamentals of economics. Classroom participation is about 30 hours per week structured in order to allow time to work in groups, while not neglecting individual students focus and management of interpersonal relationships. LEARNING METHOD The educational sessions provide different learning methods, including lectures, simulations, discussions of case studies and presentations by companies, testimonials, and group work. The curriculum is completed with master lectures held by professionals from the worlds of business, academia and politics, with opportunities for discussion and interaction with the business world through case histories. CAREER DEVELOPMENT Building synergies with businesses is a priority and a distinguishing characteristic of all programs of Bologna Business School, including the Master in Data Science. The School is fully dedicated to preparing students for the job market and it accomplishes this through systematic career development, with an ongoing commitment to combine the best professional projects by students with the demands of businesses. The Master in Human Resources & Organization (MHRO) is a full-time (and full-experience) English program, which aims to prepare graduates, from any discipline, to master organizational design and human resources management challenges in multicultural contexts. [+]

Why do some firms perform better than others? We will answer this question together, however, some experts assure that it depends on strategy and others on technology or products. We will discover that a companies’ performance relies on how top-management teams formulate and implement strategies, how organizations are designed in order to exploit the potential of technologies, and how people collaborate to innovate products and services. Organizations and people are at the center of the stage, both in the world economy and in this program. The Master in Human Resources & Organization (MHRO) is a full-time (and full-experience) English program, which aims to prepare graduates, from any discipline, to master organizational design and human resources management challenges in multicultural contexts. This program is both a Master of Science and Master of Practice, so to speak. While the academic excellence is assured by international-focused academic professors, you will have the opportunity to address different issues working with managers all along the year. Interactive Classes, Leader Lectures, Team Assignments, In-company Workshops, Skill Labs, Career Counseling, 1-month Team Project Work with an HR&O Director, Meetings with the School’s network of Alumni, and a 3-to-4-month Internship provide a unique context for challenging yourself, learning, and starting off a successful career in a business or in a consulting firm. This program is the first Italian Inter-University Master in HRO, thanks to the collaboration of the Universities of Bologna, Ferrara, Modena, and Reggio Emilia. THE MASTER IS AN INVESTMENT. Partnerships: The Master is sponsored by the European Association for People Management (EAPM) and it is accredited by the Italian Association of Human Resources Management (AIDP). The Association will give the best Project Work Team the “AIDP Award for Bar-Raisers” that consists of a study tour in Europe and a visit to a multinational company for an amount equivalent to €3,000. STRUCTURE The MHRO is a full-time program divided into three terms The program starts with a week-long kick-off and ice-breaking session, which leads into the first term. During the first term, the fundamentals of business and regulation are addressed, in order to provide a managerial mind-set. After students are introduced to key topics in organization and human resources management. In these courses, led by both academic professors and qualified managers and consultants, you learn the main HRO department’ responsibilities and different strategies to address them. Career development is a key part of this program. A qualified career counselor, in collaboration with a leader company in HR&O, will assist you with a variety of services and resources. In addition to the above, there will be a personal development project, simulations and interviews with head-hunters and managers, all of which are part of the career development program. The program includes a 3- to 4-month internship at various companies and consulting firms in Italy or abroad. It is your chance to put into practice the theory and techniques learned during the academic terms. The career development department will assist you to find the internship that is best for you and your development. At the end of the internship you are required to submit a thesis showcasing your core educational activities during both the academic terms and the internship. The thesis will be presented to the Scientific Committee and to the class. The Master program is updated and suited to the market needs thanks to a continuous dialogue between the faculty and the specific Management Committee. [-]

The Master in Marketing, Communication and New Media is a full-time program taught entirely in English, which aim to prepare graduates from any discipline to manage the methods and techniques of both traditional and digital media in an industry currently undergoing a continuous revolution. Alumni of this Master have a placement rate of 96% within 6 months. Through the expansion of mobile devices every day, more and more people around the world connect across social media: Twitter has 320 million active monthly users, Instagram 400 million, Google+ 540 millions, YouTube 1 billion and Facebook 1.6 billion. What we are witnessing is more than a technological revolution, it is a deep socio-cultural transformation. Companies all over the world over are constantly increasing the amount they invest in their online advertising channels to improve their relationship with the consumers and the business community. Together with our partners IAB (Interactive Advertising Bureau), Yoox Net-A-Porter Group, The Boston Consulting Group, Google, GroupM, IBM and WPP, this master’s degree provides students with the qualifications and skills to start a managerial or consultancy career in the field of digital communications. This international program, with students from all over the world and a Faculty composed by professors, managers and entrepreneurs, takes place within the unique atmosphere of a 16th century villa on the hills surrounding Bologna. Thanks to project works, company projects and master lectures, students get in touch with the key concepts of the digital era: participating, creating and sharing content. At the end of the courses, the Master concludes with an internship. THE MASTER IS AN INVESTMENT. STRUCTURE The Master’s degree is a 12-month full-time program including an internship or project work (total length: 1500 working hours). The academic part is divided into two terms. You will cover 1000 hours of study: 400 hours of classroom activities and 600 hours of individual/group work. During the first term you will study the fundamentals of marketing and communication, while the second term will deal with practical aspects and focus on the new media tools you will use in your professional career. The two terms are followed by an internship period of 500 working hours. This internship can be carried out at various companies and agencies in Italy or abroad. It is your chance to put into practice the theory and techniques learned during the two academic terms by working on marketing and communication strategies/campaigns, analyze and create solutions to real problems and work on action plans. You are expected to make the most of these opportunities by learning from the professionals you will be working with. At the end of the internship you will be required to hand in a ‘Final Report’, which you will present to the Director of Studies showcasing your activities and analyzing the theories and lessons learned during the academic part. LEARNING METHOD The main aim of our teaching staff is to first lay down a solid grounding of theory and then to build on this foundation by introducing more practical aspects. This method will result in you confidently entering the work environment of this industry, ready to deal with any scenario you will face. The teaching staff will help you grasp these concepts and techniques through the use of lectures and seminars; group projects and company visits; guest speakers and case studies; videos and presentations; as well as individual assignments and assisted private studying. The courses are structured to give the maximum freedom to learn to the students and allow the professors to teach and assess the students in the best way possible. Assessments can take the form of individual/group presentations, projects, oral and written exams as well as, of course, class participation. CAREER DEVELOPMENT Career development is a key part of this program. The goal is to give you the opportunity to develop yourself and your skills even after you have left the school. The right career choices can help you do just this. The program includes a 500-hour internship which represents an opportunity for you to analyze real marketing and communication problems, develop strategies, and elaborate action plans together with professionals in the marketing and digital communication industry. The internship acts as a perfect professional springboard, especially considering the fact that just six months after graduation, alumni reach a 96% placement rate. [-]
