The Woodman-Scheller Israel Studies International Program (WSISIP) provides students with a comprehensive state-of-the-art background in key subjects and research methods in Israel Studies. The knowledge and skills that students acquire, provides a solid foundation for those intending to pursue doctoral degrees in related fields.

A degree in Israel Studies is of value for candidates seeking to enter administrative, diplomatic, civil society, or teaching positions related to Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world.

Course content

The M.A. program in Linguistics offers either a Thesis (research) track or a non-thesis (general) track. Both tracks have three objectives: (1) to expose students to current research topics in the field (2) to engage students in scientific discourse, research methodologies, and critical reasoning; (3) to train students in academic writing and the use of professional literature. The goal of the thesis track, in addition, is for students to conduct original research that contributes to the field.

Both tracks are two-year programs.

1. Thesis track

Students can choose from among the various courses offered. However, all students in this track must take the Methodology course in their first year. In addition, the courses chosen must include at least one course in syntax and at least one course in semantics. All M.A. courses are run as seminars and require a final paper.... [-]

The Avram and Stella Goldstein-Goren Department of Biotechnology Engineering

As one of the youngest departments established at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, the Avram and Stella Goldstein-Goren Department of Biotechnology Engineering (BTE) offers a vibrant cutting-edge research atmosphere led by 15 faculty members. The Department is strategically situated in the modern Guzik building, between the Ilse Katz Institute for Nanoscale Science & Technology and the National Institute for Biotechnology in the Negev. The Electro-Optical and Photonics Engineering Unit

The Unit of Electro-Optical and Photonics Engineering (EOPE) was established in 2000 with the vision that the 21st century will depend as much on photonics as the 20th century depended on electronics. It is dedicated to research and education in electro-optical and photonics engineering and is currently the only department in Israel authorized to grant graduate degrees (MSc and Ph.D.) in electro-optical engineering. The Unit’s multidisciplinary research places it at the vanguard of the optics and photonics community, both nationally and internationally. The Department of Materials Engineering

The Department of Materials Engineering at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev was established in 1971. It was the first department in the field in Israel. The Department of Materials Engineering provides a young and vibrant atmosphere for innovative research and is deeply dedicated to exceptional education at all levels.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering is a thriving multi-disciplinary field with significant impact on industry and society all over the world. The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, established 50 years ago, has since then been the home to many scientific breakthroughs and technological achievements. The department offers both undergraduate and graduate programs in a wide range of subjects that encompass both practical and theoretical aspects of Mechanical Engineering.

The Department has a student enrollment of over 800 students pursuing B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees.

At present, the Department employs 25 full-time senior faculty members who teach and conduct cutting-edge research in all major areas of Mechanical Engineering, including robotics, control and autonomous systems, solid mechanics, bio-inspired materials and systems, fluid mechanics, micro- and nano-electromechanical systems, heat transfer, system design and monitoring, thermodynamics, energy technologies and particulate materials technology.... The Unit of Nuclear Engineering

The Unit for Nuclear Engineering (UNE) is the only academic department in Israel offering graduate studies towards M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in the field. A wide variety of research subjects are covered at the UNE, including: Nuclear energy engineering, nuclear core physics, neutron transport, nuclear fuel cycle, nonproliferation strategies, applications in radiation for medicine, nuclear instruments for radiotherapy, radiation calculations and Monte Carlo simulations for radiation, aspects of radiation shielding design and calculations, patient protection from radiation, nuclear theory, and particle transport developments. Course content

In the face of the biodiversity crisis and the threat to ecological systems and the services they provide, our new program in Ecology, Conservation and Management aim at creating a new generation of scientists, experts, and field workers with a broad knowledge in the field of applicative ecology, conservation biology, and evolutionary ecology.

Course content

Drylands occupy more than one-third of the earth's land surface, including most of the Middle East and Israel. Dwindling water supplies and deteriorating water quality impede the sustainable development of drylands and the well-being of their growing population. The aim of this program is to introduce students to cutting-edge research and graduate education in water sciences, aimed at improving human life in drylands through technologies and policies for the sustainable use of water resources. Curriculum Goals To train skilled professionals for the fields of hydrology, water treatment and desalination (including: water production, estimation of surface and underground water and solute movement, chemical and biochemical evaluation of underground water and contaminants, operations research, optimization of water systems and more). To provide students with a strong background in fundamental and applied aspects of physical, chemical and microbiological processes in aquatic environments To offer knowledge in the subjects of flow and transport processes of water, solutes, and solids and separate phases in soil-water, in groundwater and in surface water. Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE)

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev was established in 1971. The department offers both undergraduate and graduate programs in a wide range of subjects that encompass both practical and theoretical aspects of electrical and computer engineering. The department has a student enrollment of over 1000 students pursuing B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees.
