The College was registered under the company code 1963 (Act 179) with the name Advanced Business College (ABC) in April 2006, when the Founder, as part of his vision to help the development of manpower base of the country made it a reality by establishing the College. The Institute stands in a tradition that combines piety, creativity and academic excellence in the furtherance of the witness to the gospel in Ghana and across Africa. This was the hallmark of the training given in the historic Akropong Seminary whose buildings, (Basel House in Akropong-Akuapem), constructed in the 1840s and 1860s but renovated in 1992, and expanded in 1996-1998, the Institute now occupies. The Institute has modern and well-maintained residential and catering facilities, a significant and up-to-date specialist library, and lecture and study facilities in a historic setting where issues of gospel and culture are a day-to-day concern. The 40 staff members seek to model Christian community, meeting for daily worship as the accompaniment of academic and pastoral activities. The Institute was formally established in 1987 as an independent body, a company limited by guarantee and registered under the Companies Code as a charity. The legal and administrative structures of the Institute were designed with a view to creating an institution that would be sustainable, financially self-supporting and sufficiently open to serve also the needs of the wider Christian and academic communities. Develop academic programmes that provide adequate tools for serious and creative research into African Christianity and the African contribution to world Christianity, as well as to offer new opportunities for meaningful and relevant theological research and publication. 2. Serve the wider Christian community in Ghana, Africa and world-wide, by focusing its research and training on issues of Christian mission in the African context, in order to help the Christian community in Africa better understand its task and witness more effectively to the Kingdom of God in Africa and in the wider world. Our Objectives i. To provide training in mission research methods, recording of local history, contextualization and other relevant subjects for those interested and engaged in situations of mission, evangelism and socio-political and cultural transformation. ii. To co-operate with other academic, church and mission institutions, agencies and departments within and outside Ghana, concerned with identifying important missiological issues for study, research and documentation, and training and action in mission. iii. To facilitate study and continuing education for ministers and other church personnel, students and researchers in mission-related subjects from both within and outside Ghana. iv. To assemble relevant literature, documentation and information for theological reflection on the church’s life and mission, develop library, microform and computer facilities, disseminate ideas and information through audio-visuals, publications and a journal. v. To maintain a community life marked by Christian worship and commitment to Christian mission and service. vi. To be as much as possible a living laboratory in mission and to partner with other institutions, agencies, centres and committees, both within and outside Ghana, engaged in reflection and action in the church’s mission, through mutual
