All Nations University College

Ghana Koforidua September 2018

All Nations University College (ANUC) was established by the All Nations Full Gospel Church (ANFGC), Toronto, Canada through the All Nations International Development Agency (ANIDA)..... The Progenitor of the vision, Dr. Samuel Donkor challenged the African diaspora in North America to support the development of Africa by investing in Human Resource Development through quality higher education. The mission was to develop a new breed of leaders for the continent with a holistic… [+] education that emphasizes academic excellence, Christian values, discipline and ethical values in a Christ-centered environment. The government of Ghana readily embraced the idea in 1988, when Dr. Donkor sought permission for the All Nations University. But it was not until 1996 when the master plan was presented to the National Accreditation Board (NAB). Upon the advice of NAB, the University was incorporated in April 1996 and subsequently received the authority to establish the All Nations University in May 1996. After years of preparations, the University opened its doors to 37 pioneering students on November 4, 2002, for the Business and Computer Science undergraduate programs. Today ANUC has 12 accredited programs and over 2500 students. It is a research university promoting African innovation and excellence and dedicated to the study and documentation of Christian history, thought and life in Ghana and in Africa as a whole, in relation to their African setting and to world Christianity. ACI seeks to strengthen Christian witness in modern Africa and world context through Christian scholarship. Named after two past great scholars of the Twi language and pioneer figures in the cultural witness of the Church in Ghana, Clement Anderson Akrofi and Johannes Gottlieb Christaller, the Akrofi-Christaller Institute of Theology, Mission and Culture (ACI) (formerly Akrofi-Christaller Memorial Centre for Mission Research and Applied Theology, ACMC) seeks to be at the cutting edge of the church’s mission and encounter with society and culture in Ghana, Africa and the wider world. The Institute stands in a tradition that combines piety, creativity and academic excellence in the furtherance of the witness to the gospel in Ghana and across Africa. This was the hallmark of the training given in the historic Akropong Seminary whose buildings, (Basel House in Akropong-Akuapem), constructed in the 1840s and 1860s but renovated in 1992, and expanded in 1996-1998, the Institute now occupies. The Institute has modern and well-maintained residential and catering facilities, a significant and up-to-date specialist library, and lecture and study facilities in a historic setting where issues of gospel and culture are a day-to-day concern. The 40 staff members seek to model Christian community, meeting for daily worship as the accompaniment of academic and pastoral activities. The Institute was formally established in 1987 as an independent body, a company limited by guarantee and registered under the Companies Code as a charity. The legal and administrative structures of the Institute were designed with a view to creating an institution that would be sustainable, financially self-supporting and sufficiently open to serve also the needs of the wider Christian and academic communities. Vision To be a pace-setting academic and pastoral institution, training Christian workers and leaders for effective mission in the African Context. Mission The Institute seeks to: Develop academic programmes that provide adequate tools for serious and creative research into African Christianity and the African contribution to world Christianity, as well as to offer new opportunities for meaningful and relevant theological research and publication. Passion to Serve: Serving with great zeal and enthusiasm. OUR MISSION STATEMENT The Christian Service University College is an Academic Centre of Excellence for teaching, research and service in Theology, Applied Science and Humanities in an Evangelical and sound ethical environment. A Brief History The College began as a merger of two visions in January 1974. A group of Ghanaian Christians had a vision of an interdenominational, evangelical institution of a high academic standard, which would train men and women for all types of Christian Ministry. The second group comprised expatriate missionaries who had a vision of an institution to train workers from the well-established church in southern Ghana for a thrust into northern Ghana and neighbouring countries where the church was relatively very small. Evangelical Christianity in Ghana in the late 1960's and 1970's was characterized, among other things, by intimate interaction and collaboration and blurring of denominational, mission and group distinctions. The Worldwide Evangelization for Christ (WEC), which was one of the missionary groups in the second group of missionaries, had acquired property in Kumasi on which they had built four dwelling houses and a radio studio with plans to construct a large building to serve as the beginning of a training college. Soon the two visions merged. In October 1974, the first residential classes started with four students and the College grew from strength to strength and has now become an Evangelical Christian University College. Our Core Values The Christian Service University College cherishes and upholds the following core values which it deems as central and basic to the institution. They are: The Lordship of Jesus Christ. Integrity Hard Work Good Stewardship of Resources Mutual Support and Care We provide top facilities for students: CSUC places you in an academically stimulating environment that is both spiritually enriching and socially fulfilling.
