Die Universität Bayreuth ist eine dynamische und forschungsorientierte Campus-Universität. 1975 startete sie als eine der ersten Hochschulen in Deutschland mit einem interdisziplinären Gründungsauftrag; heute ist sie Wegbereiter innovativer Forschung und Lehre. The University of Bayreuth is a dynamic, research-oriented campus university. It was established in 1975 as one of the first universities in Germany with an interdisciplinary founding mission; it is now considered a pioneer in innovative research and teaching. With the strength of its core subject areas and its strategically chosen focus areas, the University offers its 13,500 students from Germany and abroad an ideal learning environment, close supervision, and attractive, internationally oriented programmes of study that are held entirely in English.

Polymer research at the University is a frontrunner in the funding ranking published by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
