Welcome to the Université Savoie Mont Blanc !

With 14 000 students, a rich variety of multidisciplinary education and 19 research laboratories with an international reputation, the Université Savoie Mont Blanc is an establishment on a human scale which combines proximity with its territories, association with the COMUE Université Grenoble Alpes, and a wide perspective on Europe and the world.

It offers short courses (university diplomas in technology, university diplomas) and long courses (generalist, specialist or vocational first degrees («licences»), masters degrees by research or vocational masters degrees, engineering diplomas and doctorates), in both first level and continuing education, on a sandwich basis or including validation of experience.

On its three university campus sites at Annecy-le-Vieux, Le Bourget-du-Lac and Jacob-Bellecombette, it offers particularly attractive living and studying conditions, at the heart of an exceptional environment, between lakes and mountains.

In support of research and education, the international aspect contributes to the identity, attractiveness, dynamism and general development of our establishment. The focus of the Université Savoie Mont Blanc is, on the one hand to develop international projects, joint award qualifications, and programmes delivered in English, and on the other hand, wherever possible, to encourage mobility for students, lecturers and researchers as well as for administrative staff.

Although present in 5 continents, with its 240 bilateral agreements, it has been able to take full advantage of its outstanding location on the borders of Switzerland and Italy to develop strong, special relationships with the higher education establishments of these two countries: Suisse Romande, Turin, Milan, the Aosta Valley … a mixture of regions and university towns.

Human-sized campuses

Located between Grenoble and Lyon, close to the Swiss and Italian borders, the University Savoie Mont Blanc is a state-financed multi-disciplinary establishment of higher education, recognized at regional, national and international levels. 14000 students in total on the campuses of Jacob-Bellecom-bette, Annecy-le-Vieux and Le Bourget-du-Lac, studying 200 proposed courses.

Research for recognized quality

Its 19 laboratories maintain close links with national research institutes(CNRS, INRA, CERN, CEA, IRSTEA).

They distinguish themselves in particular by the organization into interdisciplinary thematic axes: mountain studies, solar energy, physics and mechatronics.

The quality of this scientific environment is further enhanced by the proximity of the CERN in Geneva, the largest particle accelerator in the world, and the nano-technologies research cluster in Grenoble.

Master in Advanced Mechatronics

Mechatronics is a synergistic and integrated process of several sciences and skills (among which control and computer sciences, electronics, mechanics) which allows to conceive and to design products and systems with augmented or improved functionality and which requires to consider the conception of the product or system in its overall lifecycle in a cooperative interdisciplinary approach. OBJECTIVE Mechatronics is a synergistic and integrated process of several sciences and skills (among which control and computer sciences, electronics, mechanics) which allows to conceive and to design products and systems with augmented or improved functionality and which requires to consider the conception of the product or system in its overall lifecycle in a cooperative interdisciplinary approach. After having completed this program, the students are be prepared for Ph.D studies. They can also work as engineers or occupy high level technical and scientific positions in research centers, in research and development departments and in specialized consulting firms. COMPETENCIES AND KNOW-HOW The Master’s students gain the skills to meet the requirements of a multidisciplinary mechatronic project and they become familiar with the requirements of a research activity through blended learning including project-based learning. 3 main competencies are developed during the curriculum through supervised sessions, on-line courses and projects: Design and achieve a mechatronic system • implementing the lifecycle of the system or product • implementing an integrated process of multiphysics and multi-technology modeling, simulation and design • choosing, designing and implementing the required sensors and instrumentation • designing the mechanical and/or electromechanical architecture • choosing, designing and implementing the digital infrastructure present IN and located AROUND the system Manage a research project • organizing his/her activity and the activity of his/her team • reporting to the research program manager • considering the questions of eco-responsibility of his/her projects and their legal and economic consequences Master the skills required for research activities... The Master in energy & solar buildings trains scientists capable of solving complex problems relating to the management, design and optimization of multiple-input technological systems and develops the expertise and skills needed to carry out research into energy management, environmental protection, the use of innovative materials and the production of innovative structures as part of a global policy of sustainable development.
