École des Ponts ParisTech created in 1747 under the name Royal School of Bridges and Roads is a higher education institution training engineers with scientific, technical and general high level.
Training to excellence
These seminars enables them to exercise the functions of high responsibility both within the public and business administration, particularly in the fields of civil engineering, construction, urban planning, transport, the energy, water and urban services.
School students also receive an open about the company and the international context, a broad and general management oriented culture, allowing them to quickly access the functions of executives.
Masters, PhD and MBA
The School shall, jointly with universities, a wide range of masters in research or professional purpose. It operates on doctoral training through University Paris-Est, research center and higher education, which it is a founding member.
The School also offers a wide range of specialized postgraduate training: Specialized Masters accredited by the Conférence des Grandes Ecoles, MBA des Ponts.
Finally, it is a major player in its fields of competence on the training of executives.
Meeting the challenges
École des Ponts ParisTech at the heart of its strategy for teaching and research issues in modeling mechanical, materials, economics, applied mathematics and environmental science, for all sectors of civil engineering, transportation, energy , water and especially for anything related to urban services, network management or land use planning.
Address major societal challenges constitutes the history of the school and continues to guide. Thus, building a future in a world that realizes that resources are limited and that human activities impact the environment to worldwide is a formidable challenge that younger generations formed the School will face .
3 strategic directions have been set for 2011-2014:
- Strive for academic excellence both in research than in teaching;
- train engineers aware of the need to balance protection and enhancement of the environment, economic development and social progress and able to bring these three pillars of sustainable development significant contributions;
- contribute to the construction of a university campus in Ile global visibility, especially on "City, Environment and Engineering" field.
Training high potential
To drive this ambition, the School builds on its position as a recognized player on the training of engineers with high potential made possible by academic excellence and research excellence (ratings AERES), and more generally by its ability to meet the needs of high-potential executives professional sectors.
The school is indeed in France among the top engineering schools rankings published by the French media are among the top four engineering schools with the Ecole Polytechnique, the Ecole Centrale Paris and Mines ParisTech . If the school is not directly visible in the "Shanghai ranking", it is present in two thematic rankings QS University Rankings 2011: Civil & Structural Eengineering 51-100, 101-150 Mechanical Engineering (the only other schools engineers herein are the École Polytechnique and École Centrale Paris) it appears to the 279th place in the world overall ranking second among the French engineering schools. Moreover, in the professional international classification proposed by Mines ParisTech 2011 edition, the School appears in 38th place worldwide (HEC 4th, 7th X, ENA 9th SciencesPo 17th, 21st INSEAD, Mines ParisTech 21st, 92nd Central Paris) and therefore 3rd place among the French engineering schools.
Since 2007, the School is an engine building in Champs-sur-Marne University Paris-Est (PRES become community universities) who aspires to global visibility on the field "City, Environment and Engineering" . the Université Paris-Est involved as founding members, in addition to school, university Paris-Est Marne-la-Vallée and Paris-Est Creteil, the National Veterinary School of Alfort, the top engineering school in electronics and electrical and IFSTTAR. Associate members also scontribuent its influence on this field, first and foremost the PIA, now attached to the school, CSTB, ESTP and three schools of architecture (Marne-la-Vallée, Paris Malaquais , Paris-La Villette).
The school is also involved in the construction of PRES "ParisTech" on the one hand, given the role assigned to the PRES in international promotion of the engineering diploma and vis-à-vis relations with business on the other hand given the many links that the school has with the various members of the PRES first and foremost the École Polytechnique and the member schools of the common competition Mines-Ponts (ENSMP, ENST, ENSTA, ENSAE).
International Development School operated for over 20 years gives him, especially through double degree agreements, a favorable influence its tissue sustainable alliances.
