About the Faculty The Faculty of Economics in Rijeka was founded in mid-1961. With first lectures starting on 1st November 1961, the Faculty has been educating economic experts especially for enhancing the economic development of Croatian Littoral and Istrian region. In 2001, the Faculty moved to the new address of I. Filipovića 4, Rijeka. Since the academic year 2005/2006, the Faculty of Economics of the University of Rijeka (EFRI) conducts university study programs in … [+] line with the Bologna Declaration for study programs of Economics and Business Economics. While enhancing the development of study programs, the Faculty has adopted an internationally recognizable model 3 + 2 + 3, so that after the completion of a three-year university undergraduate study program students obtain the title Bachelor's degree in economics, which is followed by a two-year graduate study program, and after graduation, students are awarded master's degree. Then, a completion of a three-year postgraduate doctoral studies leads to obtaining an academic title of a Ph.D. The transition to the 3 + 2 + 3 model has been based on international experience as well as on the Faculty's rich experience in performing undergraduate and postgraduate education in economics and business. The great number of foreign universities, with which the Faculty has signed agreements on collaboration in different fields, the number of visiting professors involved within the teaching process and the number of Faculty’s teachers staying at foreign universities as well as the increasing number of incoming and outgoing students within the mobility programs show the current volume of the Faculty of Economics’ involvement in the international higher education and research area. ACCREDITATIONS We live up to the highest quality standards, and our programs are accredited by various programs and our Institution takes part on different memberships. We are committed to the creation of new contents and transfer of knowledge to young people who are going to make great things in the field economics very soon. Therefore we believe that an English taught study program at both levels (undergraduate and graduate) must be much more affordable to all students. So consequently we adjusted our tuition fee accordingly. Accordingly, ZSB’s study programme aims to educate students that will contribute to successful businesses in the fields of marketing and communications. Ministry of science, education, and sport assessed that on October 11th, 2006, when it issued a permit allowing ZSB to offer a professional study of marketing and communications to students. On May 15th, 2015, ZSB got issued a permit for opening a specialized professional graduate study of marketing and communication. Analysis of comparative programmes from Croatian universities was made, especially faculty of economics as well as other higher education institutions concentrated towards business economics and journalism and politics faculties. Moreover, an analysis of other renowned higher education institutions from European Union member countries was undertaken. The tradition of Higher Education in Rijeka dates back as far as 1627, whereas the first milestone of the systematic education of engineering personnel in this area is laid by the displacement of the Navy Academy from Trieste to Rijeka in 1854. In this way, a full-time four-year study with educational courses from the fields of iron ship and steam engine construction was commenced for the needs of the Austrian Navy of that period, and it continued until after World War I.… [+] Additionally, initial foundations of the Faculty of Engineering were laid on engineering achievements like torpedo manufacturing in 1866, the first world photography of rifle bullets at supersonic speed in 1886, the birth and the first scientific achievements of the worldly renowned seismologist and meteorologist Andrija Mohorovičić, as well as the development of some of the crucial elements in naval architecture, mechanical industry and power industry both in the city of Rijeka and broader region. The Faculty was established in the year of 1960, previously named Strojarski fakultet (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering). At the very early stages, only graduate engineers of Mechanical Engineering were educated, and since the Faculty started recruiting graduate engineers of Naval Architecture in 1969/70, it was then renamed into the Faculty of Mechanical-Naval Architecture. Under this name it pursued its activities until 1973, when it was renamed into the Technical Faculty. The initiation of the study for graduate Civil Engineering in 1971/72 resulted in the foundation of the independent Faculty of Civil Engineering in 1976. The Faculty encompasses 11 departments. The departments include 38 sections and 50 laboratories, and the Faculty also has a Computing Centre, a Library as well as an Accounting Division, Procurement Office, the General and Personnel Office, the Student Affairs Office and the Technical Service. Of the total number of 171 employees, 69 are in teaching-research, 9 in teaching and 25 in associate positions, 18 junior researchers, 3 members of staff work on projects funded by the Croatian Science Foundation, and 38 work in the administrative and professional services. 7 employees are outside of the system of the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports, and 2 on professional training, but the Faculty engages a large number of external associates. The Faculty offers undergraduate and graduate university study programmes in mechanical engineering, naval architecture, electrical engineering and computer engineering as well as undergraduate vocational study programmes in mechanical engineering, naval architecture and electrical engineering. It also offers a three-year doctoral study in the area Engineering Sciences, in the fields of Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Electrical Engineering, Fundamental Engineering Sciences and Interdisciplinary Engineering Sciences. So far, the Faculty of Engineering in Rijeka has delivered 128 PhD and 95 Master of Science degrees. Of the former 2899 Graduate Engineer Diplomas 2335 were in Mechanical Engineering, 311 in Naval Architecture and 253 in Electrical Engineering; and of 1536 Engineer Diplomas 717 were in Mechanical Engineering, 108 in Naval Architecture and 711 in Electrical Engineering. The Bologna programme has produced 691 Master Engineers (282 Mechanical Engineering, 75 Naval Architecture, 303 Electrical Engineering and 31 Computer Engineering), 1061 University Bachelor Engineers (480 Mechanical Engineering, 82 Naval Architecture, 360 Electrical Engineering and 139 Computer Engineering) as well as 335 Vocational Bachelor Engineers (122 Mechanical Engineering, 32 Naval Architecture and 181 Electrical Engineering). At present more than 2000 students study at the Faculty.
This year, Faculty of Economics in Osijek marks the fifty-second anniversary of successful work and the eight year of implementation of completely new educational programmes adapted in accordance with the Bologna Agreement. This Faculty has played an important role in training scientists and experts in this part of Croatia. The University College is a part of the Algebra education group, the founding institution which has been operating on the Croatian market for more than 16 years and has remained the leading educational center in the region for computing and information technology. Short History and the Faculty today: The tradition of higher education in the field of Civil Engineering in Split began in 1971 with the founding of the Department of Civil Engineering as part of the University of Zagreb. The institution started to exist autonomously in 1977 as the Faculty of Civil Engineering Science of the University of Split. Since July 1991 the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Split has been functioning as an independent higher education… [+] and scientific research organization. After the establishment of the Architectural Study in September 2003 the present-day Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture was founded. The Faculty has had its own building since the day it was founded. It covers an area of 8400 m2 which is used for halls, lecture halls, student study rooms, offices, laboratories, a library, and a conference room. Courses and scientific research are carried out in 21 departments and 5 centers. There are currently 1273 students enrolled in the Faculty. Until the present day, the Faculty has produced 962 Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering, 27 Bachelors of Science in Architecture, 473 Civil Engineers, 189 Bachelors of Civil Engineering, 94 Bachelors of Architecture, 129 professional Bachelors of Civil Engineering, 37 Masters of Civil Engineering, and 2 Masters of Architecture. 44 candidates have acquired a Master of Science degree and 19 candidates have acquired a Doctor of Science degree. Courses are delivered by 54 lecturers: 42 doctors of science, 6 masters of science, 14 assistants and 30 external associates. 26 junior research assistants have also been involved in the teaching process, three of which have a Ph.D. degree and 4 an M.Sc. degree. Four employees are academy members. The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture performs university study of Civil Engineering, university study of Architecture, university study of Geodesy and Geo-informatics, and professional study of Civil Engineering. Since the academic year, 1992/1993 postgraduate (doctorate) university studies have been performed as well.
University of Dubrovnik The University of Dubrovnik is the “youngest” university in Croatia. It was established in 2003. on the foundations of a very long tradition which goes back to the 17th century, but also on decades of modern higher education. That institution provided education for Ruđer Bošković, the most eminent Croatian scientist and the founder of the dynamic theory of atoms, who continued his doctorate studies in Rome. The Dubrovnik Republic Senate allowed young aristocrats to study navigation and commerce and apply their professional knowledge when sailing out of the Adriatic Sea.
