Universidad de Medellin

Introduction

The University of Medellín was born on February 1, 1950, when a group of prominent Young Intellectuals from the city of Medellín, becoming spokespersons for important sectors of the Antioquia community, spoke of the need to build a center for higher studies where the Teaching could be given freely and learning could be assumed in the same way.

The guiding idea of the University, since its foundation, has always been to offer free education without limitations for political, racial, social, religious, or any other reasons, and to promote scientific research aimed at finding a solution to Colombian problems.

The University of Medellín is an unofficial institution of higher education, organized as a common utility corporation that offers university training programs through an integrated or cycle curriculum, advanced training, non-formal education, and continuing education.
