The School of Business of the Adolfo Ibáñez University was founded in 1953 in the city of Valparaíso and, with more than 65 years of experience, it has become one of the most prestigious business schools in Chile and Latin America, becoming a referring to regional and also global level.

It is the only Chilean business school that has a triple crown of international accreditation (AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA), which places it within the select group of 1% of the best business schools in the world.

Its international recognition is also supported by the positioning of its programs in prominent places of global rankings, such as América Economía, Innovation Management, Financial Times and QS ranking, among others.

At present, the Business School has offices in the cities of Valparaíso (Chile), Santiago (Chile) and operations in Lima (Peru) and Miami (United States).

The UAI Business School is characterized by an educational model based on the Liberal Arts, which aims to train students with critical thinking, capable of generating positive impact and being agents of change within their organizations, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical experiences in their training and a strong ethical commitment.

Among its strategic pillars, the creation of knowledge, sustainability, innovation, entrepreneurship, academic leadership and globalization stand out. Currently, the Business School has more than 5,000 students, both in its pre and postgraduate programs, and a network of more than 13,000 graduates working in 40 countries.

It has an academic body of 92 full-time professors, 30% of whom are foreigners, from countries such as Argentina, Brazil, China, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Spain, France, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay, USA, Venezuela . Its teachers have doctorates in the main universities of the world, among which are Harvard, MIT, Princeton, Cambridge, Oxford, California at Berkeley, UCLA, NYU, Chicago, Columbia, Maryland, Michigan, Boston, Georgia Tech, Texas at Austin , Carnegie Mellon, among others. 48% of the faculty comes from top 100 universities, according to the QS ranking.

Educational model

In line with the educational model of the Adolfo Ibáñez University, the UAI Business School incorporates a Liberal Arts program inspired by the best universities in the world. This model seeks to encourage students to reflect on the most common issues of humanity and of life together, which allows not only to train in a profession, but to develop a more sophisticated, critical and multidisciplinary thinking.

The above is translated into the Core Curriculum, a set of 8 courses inspired by the 100-year experience of Columbia University, where students read, analyze and discuss classic texts of philosophy, politics, literature and science.

Specifically, in the case of the Business School, all the programs of the entity seek, through the different curricular meshes, to contribute to the formation of the following skills:

  • Leadership.
  • Critical thinking.
  • Effective communication.
  • Ethical conduct

In the specific case of the career of Commercial Engineering, it bases its learning on two pillars, which translate into academic excellence and methodologies that encourage "Learning by Doing", bringing students closer to the business world early and taking them beyond the pure acquisition of knowledge, which allows them to enter the world of business with advantage.

Thus, the teaching methodology focuses on the student, changing the paradigm of the teacher who transmits knowledge to one where the students are managers of their own learning.

It is for this reason that the educational model includes the methodology of workshops, where projects are carried out that allow interaction with the real world of business. In addition, general training is combined with two options of degree: Business Administration and Economics, and a Master's program at the end of the career.

The integration of these elements allows to train professionals capable of adapting and being successful in an increasingly dynamic environment.
