The Faculty of Business, Economics and Policy Studies (FBEPS) is one of the six Faculties in Universiti Brunei Darussalam. It is the second largest Faculty in UBD, in terms of the number of staff and students. At the start of the academic year 2009/2010, FBEPS started to offer a new and innovative undergraduate programme, Bachelor of Business. This new programme is designed to ensure that students are more diversified in their knowledge through the application of depth and breadth modules, and exposed to the real life experiences through the Discovery Year in their Year 3. Apart from that, FBEPS also offers a variety of graduate programmes by coursework and by research, both in full- or part-time mode. FBEPS has the highest number of graduate students compared to the other Faculties, with quite a number of international students. Recently with the introduction of the UBD Graduate Research Scholarship, FBEPS has welcomed quite a number of overseas PhD students.
Bachelor of Business
The Bachelor of Business offers students the choice of a variety of majors that will equip them with the skills to succeed in the modern world. Innovative programmes in Business Administration, Economics and Accounting & Finance coupled with modules in governance and enterprise ensure that students are qualified for employment in both the private and public sectors. In addition, the chance to study a variety of modules outside the primary discipline and the option of Study Abroad Programme, Internships at selected companies in Brunei or overseas and Community Outreach and student Enterprise Programmes during the Discovery Year will add to students’ learning experience and marketability. Unlike graduates from traditional degrees, the breadth modules and Discovery Year programme will prepare graduates from this degree for the world beyond university.
The Faculty of Business, Economics and Policy Studies strives to provide a rich learning environment for future generations of leaders of the public and private sectors in Brunei, and also to be an accessible source of professional knowledge and expertise for the community.
The Master of Arts Programme can be taken either by coursework or by research. Masters by coursework will equip students with up-to-date knowledge, skills and tools that are required to pursue a career in Economics, Management, Business Administration, Islamic Finance and Logistics or related disciplines. Masters by research will equip students with research skills that are required by the public or private sectors, as well as to prepare students for further research for doctoral study.
This programme is designed to produce competent researchers who can contribute to the body of knowledge in their discipline. Economics, Management, Finance and Public Policy are the four specialisation areas offered by the Faculty.
