University of Vienna

The University of Vienna was founded in 1365. It is the oldest university in the German-speaking world and one of the largest in Central Europe. Currently, about 91.000 students are enrolled at the University of Vienna. 179 courses can be taken, of which 56 are Bachelor Programmes, 112 Master Programmes, 3 Diploma Programmes and 8 PhD Programmes. With staff of 9.400 employees, 6.700 of whom are academic, the University of Vienna is the largest teaching and research institution in Austria. It aims to sustain a wide range of studies, but at the same time to promote new and innovative fields of research, and to establish new networks between subjects.

With the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the concept of sustainable development will become the guiding framework for global development for the next decades. Based in the UN City Vienna, the Master Program aims at imparting policy-oriented knowledge and applied methods for design of sustainability policies on national and international level. The program has an interdisciplinary orientation and is based on a plural understanding of scientific approaches with respect to globalization and sustainability. [+]

The Master Program is carried out in cooperation with the Austrian Foundation for Development Research (ÖFSE) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
