Introduction

In a globalized, multicultural and pluralistic world, academic mobility and international educational cooperation, in the sense of ‘befriending projects’, contribute substantially to successful and peaceful coexistence.

As evidenced by the current global migratory movements, communicating with people from other cultures and alien linguistic backgrounds, learning from one another, being able to get one’s meaning across, have become key competences in the 21st century.

As the Austrian philosopher Wittgenstein phrased it in his Philosophical Investigations, ‘The limits of my language mean the limits of my world.’

To continually expand these limits and to avoid being stuck in solipsistic and ecological narrowness, the Private University of Education, Diocese of Linz gives prominence to academic internationalisation.
