Introduction

The University of South Australia (UniSA) is a globally connected and engaged university, helping solve the problems of industry and the professions. With more than 32,000 students including 6,000 international students, the University is South Australia’s largest. The University is ranked in the top three percent of more than 10,000 universities worldwide in the 2015 QS World University Rankings.

In 2015/16, the QS ‘Top 50 under 50’ ranked us at number 25 in the world for universities less than 50 years old.

The 2015 QS Stars Rankings awarded us with an overall five star rating, as well as five stars in the following eight categories: Research, Employability, Teaching, Facilities, Internationalisation, Social responsibility, Inclusiveness and Specialist Criteria. The University offers more than 400 degree programs across a wide range of subjects including business, law, education, arts and social sciences, health sciences, information technology, engineering and the environment. Programs are designed in consultation with business and the professions and include fieldwork, placements, industry-guided simulations and business projects. This real-world experience provides students with the qualities that employers look for.

Students benefit from the modern facilities and are taught by academics who are experts in their field, with 73 percent of our academic staff holding a PhD. UniSA were ranked second in Australia for student support services in the 2015 International Student Barometer.

We are the only Business School in Adelaide that is EQUIS accredited and one of only nine in Australia.

The Master of Architecture comprises the final two years of the five year professionally accredited architecture education offered at the University of South Australia. This program has consistently recorded top ratings in the Good Universities Guide's field of study for Architecture in the areas of Good Teaching and Overall Satisfaction. In the 2016 QS Subject Rankings UniSA ranked in the World Top 100 for Art, Architecture and Design. During this degree, students will refine their technical and communication skills, and solve increasingly complex design problems through the application of skills developed in integrated courses. The program has a core focus on Design Studio as a place of integration for other streams of learning. The Design Studio courses allow students to develop capabilities in areas such as sustainability, construction and documentation, urban design, contemporary design theory and digital exploration. Student-directed learning is an important facet of the program, which offers extensive opportunities for specialisation according to individual preferences. Students can pursue specific areas through the major research components of the program and through advanced electives such as remote construction, urban design, sustainable design, conservation, digital environments and architectural history and theory. Applicants require a three-year degree from a recognised tertiary institution and two learning areas in their undergraduate degree from the following learning areas: Arts (Dance, Drama, Music, Media Arts or Visual Arts), English, Mathematics, Health and Physical Education, Humanities and Social Sciences (History, Geography, Civics and Citizenship or Economics and Business), Languages, Design and Technology and Science.
