The educational mission of the PETROLEUM GEOSCIENCES Program at The Petroleum Institute is to provide a high-quality education in petroleum geology and geophysics and to produce graduates for successful and socially and ethically responsible careers in the petroleum industry that meet or exceed the needs and expectations of ADNOC and other industry sponsors.

The mission of the Electrical Engineering Program is to provide a world-class education in electrical engineering with emphasis on power and control systems engineering that prepares graduates for successful professional careers in ADNOC, with other sponsors, and in the broader energy industry.

The mission of the Chemical Engineering Department at the Petroleum Institute is to provide a world-class education in chemical engineering science and practice and to produce graduates and future leaders who are capable of meeting or exceeding the needs and expectations of PI sponsors from oil and gas, and broader energy industry.

The degree of Master of Science in Computational Data Science (M.Sc. in CODS), which combines computer science and mathematics, is awarded for successfully completing the requirements of a program of study, which includes taught courses, a project and a thesis. The thesis is an independent investigation of specialized areas within the general field of computational data science and associated disciplines. The M.Sc. in CODS gives candidates the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in the broad field of computational data science and contribute to the process of discovery and knowledge creation through the conduct of original research. Candidates for this degree are taught and supervised by experienced faculty and are expected to demonstrate initiative in their approach and innovation in their work. In addition to successfully completing the taught course and project components of the program, candidates prepare and present a thesis on their chosen research area. Research may be undertaken in several topics corresponding to the areas of focus identified by the University.

The degree of Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering (MSc in AERO) is awarded for successfully completing the requirements of a program of study, which includes taught courses as well as a thesis. The thesis is an independent investigation of specialized areas within the general field of aerospace engineering and associated disciplines.

The MSc in Petroleum Geosciences is a research-intensive program at an internationally recognized center of excellence in education and research in petroleum geology and geophysics. Upon completion of the MSc in Petroleum Geosciences, graduates will be able to apply knowledge of mathematics, chemistry, physics, geology, and geophysics to formulate solutions to various geoscience problems.

The MSc in Applied Chemistry is awarded to candidates who successfully complete the academic courses and research thesis requirements of the program. The program is intended for candidates with a bachelor's degree in chemistry or other related specialization. The program’s typical length is four semesters, with the first three semesters requiring the completion of a combination of course work and thesis work, and the final semester only requiring thesis work and writing.

The faculty of the Department of Mechanical Engineering hosts a study program in Material Science and Engineering (MSE) that builds around the interest and expertise of a team of faculty for materials science that involves the investigation of the relationships that exist between material structures and properties and materials engineering, which is, on the basis of these structure–property correlations, designing or engineering the structure of a material to produce a predetermined set of properties.

The degree of Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering (M.Sc. in ECE) is awarded for successfully completing the requirements of a program of study, which includes taught courses as well as a thesis. The thesis is an independent investigation of specialized areas within the general field of electrical and computer engineering and associated disciplines.

The mission of the graduate program in mechanical engineering at The Petroleum Institute is to provide graduate students with learning opportunities for acquiring a broad base of mechanical engineering knowledge necessary for advanced work in Mechanical engineering, an in-depth research experience in thermo-fluids and/or mechanics and materials and/or controls and automation, and the necessary skills for life-long learning and professional development.
