The program positions Print as an expanded field that situates the printing press as the prehistory of computing and the web. We collectively explore the many ways technically mediated images alter and expand the world. You work from a range of positions, some working through print, making prints directly and others working with print, using archives, broadcast media, collage, and installation to explore the rich cultural legacies of printed matter.

This program is transitioning to the College of Engineering Technology, to be completed on July 1, 2019. The MS program in print media offers students an opportunity to explore new areas of research in the graphic communications field. The program's faculty and curriculum focus on establishing quality and efficiencies pertaining to business, technology, and processes in graphic communications. Recent student research includes 3D printing quality analysis, consumer preferences for printed textiles, user experience in digital publishing, and implementation of lean techniques in printing. Our faculty are experts in many different areas, including print, business, color management, web and IT, digital publishing, imaging, and typography. Students have the opportunity to get hands-on experience by working with faculty as graduate assistants either in the classroom or assisting with faculty research. Graduates are employed as industry leaders in advertising, publishing, business operations, communication processes, and product developments.

The Master in Fine Arts is the natural continuation of the Bachelor of Arts in Painting and Visual Arts and Sculpture and Installations. Nevertheless, it may also be attended by students who come from other educational backgrounds and who wish to complete their studies by studying contemporary art.

The MA Printmaking programme encourages you to test the boundaries of what can be considered a fine-art printmaking practice, to work in traditional and non-traditional modalities across a range of practices and mediums. You will have access to our print studios, allowing you to explore a range of autographic printmaking processes, including intaglio, relief print, screenprinting, letterpress and digital processes.

The Master of Science in Surface Imaging is a unique program utilizing a variety of state-of-the-art digital printing technologies at the Center of Excellence in Surface Imaging. As part of your coursework, you will have extensive experience working on interdisciplinary projects using advanced technology and design solutions. Upon graduation, you will be prepared to be a leader in the growing imaging industry which includes graphic, architectural, interior, textile, fashion apparel, and home industries, as well as all facets in the global imaging industry.
