The creation of the Master's program in Social Innovations in Education is justified from four complementary aspects, related in the first instance to a review of the status of training at this academic level in related subjects, both nationally and internationally.

The Master of Arts in International Higher Education and Management is designed for those who want to seriously study international higher education, policy, and governance, as well as management and leadership issues in managing the contemporary university.

The Master of Arts in Educational Transformation (MAET) equips professionals with the skills and insights needed to tackle tough problems in urban education and to promote the kinds of transformations that will bring greater opportunity – and justice – to children.

The Instructional Leadership program will focus on leadership that develops candidates for the critical task of transforming school districts into cultures of excellence. To this end, candidates will be equipped with the appropriate knowledge, abilities, and dispositions to facilitate organizational change. In keeping with our institutional academic goals, one of our missions is to develop candidates who will assist and lead school systems to eliminate the achievement gap and to improve the lives of the economically and socially disadvantaged who have for too long been underserved educationally in this state and nation. Candidates will be expected to develop expertise in using data to drive improvement efforts, assessments, and to create and lead schools and school systems committed to student learning and achievement.

The Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration comprises the 36 units of coursework required for the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential (which is accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing) plus an additional 9 units of elective coursework. Candidates pursuing the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential may earn the Master of Arts degree by completing three additional elective courses chosen in collaboration with the academic advisor.

The Master of Arts in Education Major in Educational Leadership program major seeks to develop principal-leaders and teacher-leaders. It is meant primarily for educators who are occupying or who are being prepared for leadership and key academic and administrative positions in their schools, especially those in basic education.
