The aim of the proposed graduate research program Environmental Analytical Chemistry and Microbiology (EACM) is to form experts with up-to-date knowledge of advanced analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, molecular biology, and environmental microbiology to elucidate the behavior and fate of contaminants from pollution sources to living organisms, to assess their impacts on ecosystem structure and functioning, and to implement solutions to maintain ecosystems health.

The subjects taught in this Master are so current that they impact practically all Industrial and Service Sectors, for example, in energy generation or fuels for the mobility of people and goods on a global level. It is a very interesting opportunity to analyze the international energy scenario that is still so dependent on fossil fuels and its projection in the Energy Transition Process that will last decades.

This PSM program in the Department of Chemistry educates the student for a professional career in industry, government, or non-profit organizations. In addition to required graduate-level chemistry courses utilizing chemical and/or biochemical processes and instrumentation, the student will take non-science graduate-level courses from the College of Business and Economics. Each student will be actively involved in exploring and participating in a unique project experience with industry to acquire specific skills and knowledge in support of their individual career aspirations. These may include manufacturing, quality control, biotechnology, or toxicology. The program expertly combines chemistry featuring advanced technical skills with business coursework focused on problem solving and decision making techniques.

Our program places emphasis on students to become knowledgeable and competent in addressing and solving related problems through research and development activities in the field of chemistry. The curriculum of the Master of Chemistry is prepared based on the needs of industry, government, and education. Therefore, we offer areas of expertise in Biochemistry, Organic chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical chemistry, and Inorganic chemistry.

Chemical engineering is a highly interdisciplinary field concerned with materials and processes at the heart of a broad range of technologies. Practicing chemical engineers are the experts in charge of the development and production of diverse products in traditional chemical industries as well as many emerging new technologies.
