BU’s Master of Arts in Psychology provides the flexibility to pursue a variety of areas in psychology, building on a common foundation of scientific methodologies. Our students are exposed to different aspects of the field through completion of coursework and developing an independent project with a faculty member. Particular strengths of the program include cognition, neuroscience, developmental science, and clinical psychology. This program is ideal for students who wish to strengthen their understanding of research methodology and clarify their interest in the field in preparation for employment or advanced graduate training.

The MLA in Liberal Studies offers two “build-your-own” tracks. In the Focused Studies track, students explore a particular subject from within the larger perspective of the liberal arts, earning 18 of the 33 required hours in a specific discipline. As part of their core requirements, students may take courses in pedagogy and education, theory, or research methods, which would enable them to teach at the community college level (with the 18hrs), continue on for the Ph.D., or work in areas related to their chosen field of study.

The MA in interdisciplinary studies offered by the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences is an innovative program that allows students to combine the study of two or more disciplines.

The Research M.A. focuses on developing tools in mass communication research and typically leads to enrollment in a doctoral program. Coursework should provide background and training in an appropriate mixture of communication theory and analytical tools; solid grasp of theory and methods should be evident in the student’s M.A. thesis. The student defends the thesis before a three-person certification committee in an oral examination at the end of the program.

The Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies degree is a flexible graduate program that allows you to design academic study around topics of interest to suit your career goals. Through this program, you can combine courses from across the UT Dallas campus or delve into one or more concentration areas.

This program will equip the student in transformative learning theories and multiple intelligences theory-and their pedagogical use. The student will conceive varying accomplishments, abilities, interests, practices, and perspectives as resources for effective learning and teaching.
