Velp (Arnhem)

The modern Velp campus building is situated at the beautiful Larenstein Estate, surrounded by lush greenery and just a few minutes from Arnhem's vibrant city center. With lively nightlife on the Korenmarkt, the Rijn river, and various student associations, Arnhem is a dynamic and multicultural city with many great initiatives. The Arnhem region offers parks perfect for strolling and relaxing. Discover Arnhem's fashion scene in the Modekwartier or its rich history on a city walk or the Liberation Route, which features monuments from the Battle of Arnhem. Nearby is the breathtaking Veluwezoom, ideal for walking and cycling through the beautiful heathland and past historic castles.

Housing

As you prepare for your study abroad adventure, one of the key things on your to-do list is to find student housing. But don't worry, we're here to help! We've worked out several routes to help you find a cozy place to call home, check our website for more information.

    Diploma

    A secondary school diploma which is equivalent to the Dutch havo diploma. Examples of equivalent levels are the International Baccalaureate diploma or A-Levels. Your diploma will be evaluated after we have received your complete application.

    English proficiency

    We also require proof of English proficiency. You must submit one of the following test scores (not older than 2 years):

    • IELTS Academic test with an overall band score of 6.0 and no sub-scores below 5.0
    • TOEFL iBT with a score of 80 or above (test to be taken in an examination centre)
    • Cambridge C1 Advanced: pass at grade C or above
    • Cambridge B2 First with a minimum score of 169

    Depending on your diploma you might be exempted from providing proof of English proficiency. Please visit our website for more information.

    Funding your studies can be challenging, but there are financial support options. Availability depends on your nationality.European students can apply for student finance and a tuition fee loan from the Dutch government. Make sure to check the requirements, as you need to work at least 32 hours per month to qualify for student finance. Non-European students can only apply for the NL Scholarship.     All our 4-year Bachelor programs result in a Bachelor of Science (BSc) or a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree.

    All study programs at VHL are accredited by the Accreditation Organization of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO). This is the official organization responsible for evaluating the quality of higher education institutions in the Netherlands.

    During the SustainaBul 2024, Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences was named the most sustainable higher education institution in the Netherlands. Already for the fourth time (in 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024).
