Introduction
Master of Science (Decision Science)
The Master of Science (Decision Science) program is designed to promote professional development of researchers, academicians, and others involved in decision-making processes. Decision Science professionals are relevant in many fields such as manufacturing, marketing, banking, finance, logistics, healthcare, transportation, telecommunication, forestry, military, energy among others.
Master of Science (Information Technology) curriculum
The program is a 40-credit-hour program, consisting of 20-credit-hours of coursework and 20-credit-hours of a dissertation. Students are required to take 6 core courses before they are allowed to write their dissertation. In which they are expected to demonstrate their ability in applying the knowledge gained as well as to enhance their writing and other soft skills.
Faculty
The program will be taught by faculty members and visiting professors in School of Quantitative Sciences who are experts in their own field and who are vast teaching and practical experience.
Teaching Style
A method of teacher-centered and student-centered is used for curriculum delivery. Lectures, discussions, seminar, field projects, individual and group work, presentation, and problem-based learning are some of the common instructional method used to enhance students’ learning experience. Students are expected to be more independent in their learning as the curriculum progress.
Career opportunities
Graduates of this program could further their current executive career or move to management level position at both private and government. They could help and support management to make effective decisions in every area of business and government using the various scientific techniques.
Entry requirements
Admission into the program can be granted based on the criteria specified below:
- A Bachelor’s degree with Honours from University Utara Malaysia or any other institution of higher learning recognized by the University Senate with a CGPA at least 2.75; or
- A Bachelor’s degree with Honours from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other institution of higher learning recognized by the University Senate with a CGPA less than 2.75 and relevant working experience; or
- Any other equivalent qualification recognized by the University Senate; and
- Fulfill the English Language requirement as set by the University Senate
