Introduction
Geoscientists study the Earth – its history, processes that shape it, natural resources we use, and connections between rocks, water, and ecosystems. Geoscientists are passionate about solving problems, helping communities, and answering questions about our natural world. Geoscientists work with minerals, water, rocks, fossils, soils, the environment, contamination remediation, energy and mineral resources, natural hazards, other planets, and more.
Our programs prepare graduates for high-demand jobs at environmental and geotechnical firms, federal and state regulatory agencies, museums, universities, energy and mineral resource companies, scientific agencies, the public policy sector, and beyond. The MS degree program trains students equally for professional practice and continued graduate study. The typical course of study takes two years to complete.
