Introduction
MIM is a two-year full-time Master of Science ('Laurea Magistrale') that equips international students with refined business knowledge, practical experience and personal skills. Specifically, it provides a sound knowledge in management, with solid foundations in economics and law, along with a quantitative orientation and the exposure to a mixture of world-wide cultures.
The Faculty of Economics is specialized in business studies, economics and law, and offers a wide range of management programs at Master’s and doctorate level. It consistently ranks among the top three faculties of Economics in Italy.
Aimed at top graduates and young professionals from all backgrounds, the MIM program is specifically designed to provide a deep understanding of the needs and trends of the European, as well as the Asian and American marketplaces. The international environment, which rests on the long-term international relationships that connect worldwide the University of Trento, fosters a stimulating learning process.
MIM Courses
The MIM will develop your analytical skills and provide you with extensive knowledge about international markets. The two-year fulltime program has three core areas – business, economics and law – and several possibilities of learning by doing e.g. case studies analyzed during classes and group works.
The curriculum requires an internship, which is scheduled as part of the 2-year program.
MIM teaching methodology
The MIM is based on a mixture of teaching methods, which is believed to be the best balance to merge a thorough understanding of theoretical issues related to business with the ability to apply them in real-life situations.
Quantitative methods, microeconomic theory and accounting issues are taught mainly through traditional lessons, essays and exams, while strategy and management subjects rely heavily on the case-studies methodology.
Students are divided in groups where they are confronted with different business scenarios and asked to solve problems in an effective way. Students get used to time-pressure situations and through factual learning they are provided with a solid platform to make the best possible decision.
The best solutions to business problems are drawn from theories, as well as experience gained in the field: the MIM provides students with both theoretical and empirical experience.
MIM advantage
Why study international management?
Successful managers contribute meaningfully to organizations only if they are equipped with specific knowledge, skills, and abilities that are honed through a comprehensive set of management education experiences. Our MIM provides you with useful theoretical and analytical tools, and aims at being your first step into the real business market. The internship provides you with professional competences that strengthen your abilities to solve problems and make decisions.
The Faculty of Economics of the University of Trento has an established tradition of business studies, and is deeply rooted in the European market, thanks to its central position and to its international relations with European, as well as worldwide universities and institutions. The multicultural environment, along with the MIM courses contents focused on international institutions, provides you with a sound understanding of the European and Asian markets.
Successful business requires a thorough understanding of the broad picture, as well as a precise identification of specific problems and the decision regarding the best viable solution. At the MIM you will be often asked to analyze case studies, and to participate in working sessions and study groups. This helps students to refine their ability to work successfully under pressure and uncertainty. Our experience shows that these skills are highly valued by recruiters around the world.
