Introduction
The Master’s degree explores how to produce healthier and safer food following a cross-cutting, farm/field-to-fork approach. Theoretical lessons are mixed with practical training, offering hands-on experience in advanced DNA, RNA, and protein analysis together with lab sessions in bioinformatics. Focused on the application of innovative biotechnological methodologies in food production and safety, it is the ideal connection between the requests of consumers and producers in the agri- food sector and the research applied to production and food-safety.

Curriculum
The Biotechnologies for Food Science course, spanning 120 (ECTS) credits, guides students through an in-depth study of biotechnological applications in the realm of food science. This program equips students with the expertise to harness cutting-edge biotechnologies for food production, safety, and innovation, preparing them to address challenges and contribute to the advancement of sustainable and technologically enhanced food systems.
1st Year: Genetics and Molecular Biology of Agrifood Products; Agrifood Microbiology; Applied Food Biotechnology; Advanced Technologies for the Agrifood Sector (Nanotechnologies, Proteomics, Metabolomics); Genomics; Applied Bioinformatics; Laboratory of Advanced DNA, RNA, and Protein Analysis
2nd Year: Traceability of Agrifood products; AgriFood Legislation and Regulation; Food Toxicology and Toxicogenomics;
- Study plan in Food Production & Nutrition: Biotechnologies in Plant Protection; Biotechnologies for Crop Production;
- Study plan in Food Safety & Hygiene: Epidemiology, Biotechnology and Risk Analysis of Food-borne Diseases; Interactions between nutrients, host and microbiota
An Italian-taught study track – Biotecnologie per l’alimentazione – is also available for application.

Galilean School of Higher Education Scholarships
The Scuola Galileiana di Studi Superiori (Galilean School of Higher Education) is the University of Padua’s school of excellence. Scholarships awarded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation MAECI
Every year, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation awards scholarships for studying in Italy to both international students and Italian students who are permanent residents in countries other than Italy (IRE).
These scholarships aim to foster international cultural cooperation, spread the knowledge of the Italian language, culture, and science, as well as promote the Italian economic and technological system throughout the world.
Grants are offered to pursue study, training, and/or research programs at Italian Higher Education Institutes, both public and legally recognized.
Loans for merit
The University of Padua has signed an agreement with the bank Banca Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A, the savings bank Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo, and the Association ‘Friends of the University of Padua’. The agreement is aimed at providing EU students with a flexible borrowing option at advantageous interest rates, to be granted with no need for collateral, to bear expenses for education.
The loan will be granted following checks on the eligibility criteria of the student asking for the financing and prior approval of the lender.
