Introduction
The Master’s degree in Geophysics for Natural Risks and Resources has the main goal of educating professionals and researchers capable of approaching in a multi-disciplinary manner the theory and applications of physical methodologies for the exploration and characterization of the subsoil. This exploration can take place at different spatial scales, from meters to tens and hundreds of kilometers, with aims spanning a large number of applications and theoretical areas where the knowledge of soil and subsoil is crucial. Both computational and field-oriented specializations are foreseen.

Earning a Master's degree in Geophysics for Natural Risks and Resources requires the successful completion of a comprehensive academic program, accumulating a total of 120 ECTS credits.
Common Path: Solid Earth Geophysics, Applied Geophysics, Electromagnetism, Basic Geology, Mathematical Physics for the Earth System, Digital Data Processing, Environmental and Engineering Geophysics, Exploration Seismology.
Path 1 – Numerical Methods, Management and analysis of physics data, Laboratories of Computational Physics, Advanced Statistics, Statistical Mechanics, Machine Learning.
Path 2 – Geophysics for Cultural Heritage, Applied Geodesy, Seismic response of the built structure, Geotechnics, Geothermics, Hydrology.
Career Opportunities
Graduates work as Exploration Geophysicist or Applied and Environmental Geophysicist or as consultants in oil&gas, and renewable energy industries, renewable energy industries, civil engineering/constructions companies, insurance enterprises, either in public or private sectors. They can sit the examination to become professional Geologists and they can also pursue a career as researchers, starting from a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences.

Every year, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation awards scholarships for studying in Italy to both international students and Italian students who are permanent residents in countries other than Italy (IRE).
These scholarships aim to foster international cultural cooperation, spread the knowledge of the Italian language, culture, and science, as well as promote the Italian economic and technological system throughout the world.
Grants are offered to pursue study, training, and/or research programs at Italian Higher Education Institutes, both public and legally recognized.
Loans for merit
The University of Padua has signed an agreement with the bank Banca Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A, the savings bank Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo, and the Association ‘Friends of the University of Padua’. The agreement is aimed at providing EU students with a flexible borrowing option at advantageous interest rates, to be granted with no need for collateral, to bear expenses for education.
The loan will be granted following checks on the eligibility criteria of the student asking for the financing and prior approval of the lender.
