The MSc (Master of Science) degree can be obtained through two years of study and represents a deeper, mostly theoretical knowledge of the given specialization. The MSc program offered by the Faculty also follows a structure of specializations. The entry requirement is a first degree obtained in a technical-engineering field (a BSc degree or a degree obtained in a university or college program).

In the course of their studies, all master program students choose a specialization and also a supplementary specialization. Specializations are thermal and surface treatment of metals, ceramic and silicate engineering, polymer engineering, and chemical technological engineering.

The objective is to train engineers who, based on their knowledge in the fundamental sciences dealing with the structure, properties, and behavior of materials (e.g. metals and their alloys, ceramics and silicates, polymers and plastics), are able to design and operate relevant technologies and to perform research and development activities.

With this MSc degree in Materials Engineering, you can fill positions all over the world that require highly qualified professionals, like factory/plant engineering, chemical engineering, or self-employed engineer in an enterprise.

Bachelor/Master degree in Technical or Natural Science Field

After the submission of the application, uploaded documents get formally checked, to filter out non-eligible applications. At this level, candidates who do not have the appropriate qualifications (BSc) to pursue their studies or language certifications (B2 or higher) or a certificate of the study conducted in English are excluded. Whose application is not supported by the sending country gets rejected at this stage of the application process.

The Faculty coordinator organizes the Skype interview, which takes 15-20 minutes. This is a conversation with the designated Entrance Examination Committee who will ask the questions (to introduce him-/herself, the BSc thesis briefly, his/her scientific background, future goals, why does he/she want to study in Hungary). Maximally 100 points can be obtained, however, for admission, the minimum score is 65.

After the Skype-interview Entrance examination sheets with the examination results are forwarded to the International Relations Office.

Materials Science 

Founded in 1735, as an institute of training specialists for mining and metallurgy serving as a model to many polytechnic institutes in the world, the University of Miskolc has always occupied a significant position in the cultivation of sciences, in professional education and training. During the last few decades of the 20th century, the Institution developed into a fully-fledged colorful university with the traditional three technical faculties (Earth Sciences, Materials Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, and Informatics) and the new faculties of Economy, Law, Arts and Humanities, Health Care and Music, also courses of continuing education, or higher-level vocational training.
