Introduction
Located in Macerata, where the University was established in 1290 - the ninth oldest in the world -, our master's degree programme in International Relations (IR, class LM-52), run by the Department of Political Science, Communication and International Relations, offers the benefit of small classes in a fresh and interactive environment.
Courses are taught with special attention to the current development and phenomena in each field, and students are always encouraged to nurture their critical approach and supported to express their skills and follow their inclinations.
We are small by design because we believe in mutual involvement and cooperation between faculty and students, and among students.
Across our history, we hosted more than 30 nationalities from five different continents: Albania, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belarus, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Canada, China, Egypt, Estonia, France, Georgia, Ghana, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Moldova, Nigeria, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, Zambia.
When engaged in confrontations during and after classes, IR students bring with them the speciality of their different heritage, upbringing, and education - an invaluable asset to learn more and better.
IR puts together the institutional perspective of a school of government and the empirical, in-the-field approach of business studies - many interdisciplinary, highly interwoven opportunities for the ideal cultural equipment to those interested as a vocation in decoding the complexities of our world and in taking part in its processes.
The programme International Relations offers three different specializations (curricula):
- International Politics and International Relations (IPER)
- International Economic Relations (IER)
- International Politics (IP)

Education Goals
The master's degree in International Relations / IR entirely taught in English, aims at providing students with considerable flexibility in problem-solving, a likely feature of their future employment experience.
Post-graduate students will be able to properly employ those analytical tools acquired when attending courses in politics, economics, sociology, history, law, and foreign languages.
The course enables to development of highly profiled professionals with leadership and managerial skills able to work in international public entities, such as Ministries (particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs), EU institutions, international GOs and NGOs, globally oriented public and private businesses, and international cooperation agencies.
