Introduction
Prepare for a career as a Canadian Certified Counsellor or Registered Psychologist in the Master of Counselling program.
The 12-course Master of Counselling program is completed over three years in a blended delivery format. Summer term includes an online portion, as well as a two-week face-to-face component in July. Fall and spring courses are offered online. On-campus accommodation is available.
While the program is designed to accommodate working professionals, students are encouraged to limit other obligations during the time frame of the program. Many students reduce or adjust their hours of work while engaged in their practica.
International Students: More than 50% of the courses in this program follow an online delivery format. Please be advised that due to the blended nature of this program, graduates will not be eligible to apply for a post-graduation work permit after completing this program.

*The program is designed to allow students to continue working during the program. It is recommended that students be prepared to reduce their hours of work/other obligations if the demands of graduate studies warrant it. The final two terms of the program include a practicum placement, impacting the ability to work during those terms. Practicum placements may require a vulnerable sector check or similar.

We have an admission award called the Univ. of Lethbridge Graduate Research Award (ULGRA) for which every student admitted to a full-time graduate program is considered. Please note that admission into a program is not a guarantee you’ll receive award funding. This admission award has no application and you will be assessed at the time you apply for admission. You can review the guidelines for ULGRA here.
Additionally, you will be considered for Graduate Assistantships work at the time of admission and your supervisor may be able to offer you a Research Assistantship or stipend (ask your supervisor about that possibility).
