Introduction
The program emphasizes mastery in the field of interest of each student as well as advanced knowledge of other subjects in related areas. It is tailored to meet the needs of each student with some certain general restrictions set by the Department. The course offerings provide the student with an opportunity to deepen his or her knowledge in a specific area of computer engineering, as well as broaden his or her knowledge by also taking courses in a number of other areas of computer engineering.
Moreover, it prepares graduates for distinguished practice in computer engineering; equipping students with the necessary skills and tools for pursuing engineering solutions to current engineering problems while being responsibly aware of all implications associated with the proposed solution. To that end, the curriculum provides a sound theoretical background along with current, practical tools and techniques for solving complex computer engineering problems.

Rankings
The University of Cyprus is the only Cypriot university that achieves for the fourth consecutive year to be included in the list of Shanghai 2021 and, specifically among the 601-700 top universities in the world (ShanghaiRanking-Univiersities).
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) is considered to be of the most active departments at the University of Cyprus due to (a) the number and level of Cypriot students that it attracts annually and (b) its developed teaching and research activities. They offer a wide range of knowledge and specialization to its students through a) highly qualified academic staff, and b) a course of study that is organized as per international standards of leading academic institutions abroad.
Program Outcome
Computer Engineering is a broad field that covers many diverse areas of study such as computer networks, computational intelligence and robotics, computer hardware systems, embedded and real-time systems, computer software design, operating systems, algorithms, etc. Students and faculty in Computer Engineering also develop synergies with disciplines outside of engineering; for example, with medicine and the life sciences that can lead to education and research in biomedical engineering.
Upon graduation from the Master of Science in Computer Engineering and Master of Engineering in Computer Engineering programs, students are expected to have the following abilities and skills:
1. Ability to use software tools as well as develop software programs to solve advanced computer engineering problems.
2. Knowledge of electrical and electronic components and their use in computing systems.
3. Ability to model, design, analyze and evaluate components and systems.
4. Breadth and depth of knowledge in areas such as:
• Computer Networks
• Biomedical Engineering
• Intelligent Systems and Robotics
• Computer Architecture
• Embedded and Real-time Systems
• Computer Vision
• Fault-Tolerant Systems
5. Ability to identify emerging research trends and challenges in Computer Engineering, and apply the acquired principles to address the technological challenges of the future.
6. Ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems using techniques, skills and modern engineering tools.
