Introduction
The Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering is one of the four departments in the newly established Faculty of Engineering at the University of Cyprus. The first undergraduate students were accepted in September 2003, while the graduate program started in January 2005.
The Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering offers a high- quality graduate program both at the Master and Ph.D. level. This program emphasizes fundamental principles that prepare students for leadership roles in a challenging and rapidly changing technological world. Research and innovation are encouraged in an environment that fosters cooperation among faculty, students, industry and research organizations. The faculty in the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering is comprised of experienced and distinguished academicians with expertise in a wide range of research fields pertinent to Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering.
The objective of this Master program is to train young scientists with up-to-date knowledge and techniques in the fast growing (and of particular importance for the society) field of Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology. The students are specialized in one of the research areas of the program with the aim to create proper conditions for a successful professional career in the public or private sector, in industry or in research organizations.

Postgraduate Study Scholarships for International Students at the University of Cyprus
Since its establishment in 1989, the University of Cyprus (UCY) has earned a strong reputation domestically, regionally, and internationally, and it has earned a prominent place in World University Rankings. Its focus on academic excellence, as well as research and teaching, is widely recognized. UCY, in line with its internationalization strategy and commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, offers a number of scholarships to qualified international candidates in the following interesting and specialized postgraduate programs:
- Master in Business Economics (total tuition fee: 10.000 euros)
- Master in Economic Analysis (total tuition fee: 5.125 euros) or PhD in Economics (total tuition fee: 4.000 euros for Master’s holders)
- Master in Artificial Intelligence (total tuition fee: 5.125 euros)
- Master in Teaching French as a Foreign Language (total tuition fee: 5.125 euros)
The scholarships will be awarded in the form of a deduction from the total amount of tuition fees of the selected postgraduate program. Candidates must meet the academic criteria and adhere to the admission requirements of the specific study program.
UCY is currently accepting online applications for admission in September 2024. The deadline for applications for the above-mentioned postgraduate programs is 14th June 2024, except for the Master in Artificial Intelligence, which has a deadline of 31st May 2024.

Program Outcome
The program is designed to produce highly qualified graduates who:
- Gain a strong background in the fundamentals of the field, creativity, societal sensitivity and the independence of thought required for a successful career in Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology.
- Obtain self-motivation and self-evaluation skills to acquire more knowledge in their area of specialization during their future professional career.
- As successful Materials Scientists and Engineers, identify, describe, use and understand the basic science behind the properties of materials at the nanometer scale and the principles behind advanced experimental and computational techniques for studying advanced materials.
- Systematically solve scientific problems related specifically to advanced and nanotechnological materials using conventional scientific and mathematical notation.
- Integrate new knowledge in their background to design, propose and compose new products and services.
- Apply their acquired knowledge and skills to a research project in the area of their specialization.
- Communicate clearly, precisely and effectively using conventional scientific language and are able to prepare scientific reports.
