This internationally recognised full-time one-year Master’s programme will enable you to engage with academic and corporate specialists from the field of international business and management, and prepare you for international research and professional employment.

The programme comprises international management courses, business skills seminars, an international internship and a business immersion project at a multinational organisation. It also includes a credit-bearing study term abroad at one of the CEMS partner universities – which includes top global business schools in 33 countries.

The programme offers an intensive cross-cultural experience designed to prepare aspiring global business leaders to contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive world.

This is a pre-experience Master’s programme, best suited for candidates at the beginning of their careers who have not worked for more than 24 months.

Programme Structure

The MIM Programme consists of three terms: two academic terms (Term 1 & Term 2) and the internship term (Term 3). The two academic terms are consecutive (August–July), while the internship (Term 3) can take place at any time during the graduate period of studies, but not overlap with Term 1 and Term 2. Students will spend one out of the two academic terms at the UCT GSB as their home school.

International Exchange

Students are required to go on exchange in either Term 1 or 2 and will transfer credits obtained for the equivalent course load (i.e. equivalent number of credits at the UCT GSB) at the exchange school back to the UCT GSB. To account for the credits earned on an exchange, students will be registered for a course that carries the equivalent weighting of that semester’s credits. They will be awarded a grade based on the results they obtained at their exchange university.

The UCT GSB has 33 CEMS partner Business Schools to choose from for the exchange. These schools are among the most highly rated in the world.

While we strive to place students in their preferred/chosen exchange schools, allocations are done at the discretion of host schools and are subject to positions available.
