Admissions
Introduction
MIREES is an innovative graduate program, taught entirely in English and designed for students that have a BA background in Economics, Politics, International Relations, History, Languages, or Cultural studies at large, and would now like to acquire specialized, in-depth knowledge of Eastern Europe and the broad Eurasian space, from Europe to China. That variegated, geopolitically crucial area, can only be understood through an interdisciplinary approach that combines political, economic, cultural, and historical perspectives. Moreover, students are asked to gain direct experiences on the ground, in the first place through 5-month compulsory mobility in one of the partner universities in the area, secondly through guest lectures with professors, activists, and politicians from Eastern Europe, Russia, or Central Asia, and finally – if they wish - through fieldwork or further exchange programs in preparation of their thesis.
MIREES combines an academic approach with professional training, forging potential insightful consultants, analysts, and managers as Area Experts for international agencies, public administrations, private and public companies, and NGOs, while also offering a solid basis for further academic studies at the Ph.D. level.
